You people sound bitterly disappointed. Better to be pleasantly surprised.

You do realize that the no expectations mantra has gotten old over the past couple of years. I understand the theory but the point of being a fan is being fanatical and hoping/praying your team will win.
I want the team to win, but am not delusional unlike some on the board that one loss is the end of a season

I think the problem with no expectations isn't the matter of pully back on the reins of optimism; rather it's that pessimistic expectations all too often come to fruition.
When we were in Bham and up 28-7, I KNEW and EXPECTED UAB to come back.
When we went up 17-0 and 24-7 in Pullman, I KNEW and EXPECTED calamity to strike. When we were up 7 and driving with 10 minutes to go, I knew we were screwed.
Just once, it would be nice for those expectations to be dashed.

Well, no you don't understand because I hope/pray every week. You're doing it wrong.

my take is that my expectations are low due to the rebuilding. I pledged to give June Jones 2 years with no expectations, then I'm expecting to see real improvement in the 3rd year. I said this before last season and I'm sticking to it. wins this year are gravy. Next year, no excuses.

I must admit when ESPN flashed the score of 24-7 on my screen, I had a moment of hope. Then the next time it was 24-14. Then 24-17, then 27-17 and hope flashed through my brain, yet again. But I when I saw the score at 27-20, I knew what was coming even with the ball next to SMU.

Hope is okay, just no expectations. Unless you like bitter disappointment, or have just become immune to it over the last 20 years.

Why be a fan of a team if there are no expectations? I will always have high expectations, and I may be disappointed 100 more times, but I refuse to follow a team and expect them to lose.

you can have as many high hopes as you want...but when you're an SMU fan...its best to have non or you'll keep getting let down decade after decade

Another sunshiner who does not understand what the words "no" and "expectations" means when used together in a sentence.

Whats the
reason you put "no" and "expetations" together in your belief system...because you
expect them to lose and don't want to be let down. Get off the hatorade.
