Coach, you guys are doing a great job on our recruiting. Keep up the effort and recruit some 4/5 Star talent in 2011 !

forget the number of stars, just recruit real football players who will work hard and want to win! Texas is full of these players. Don't be fooled by the "look like Tarzan, play like Jane" players the recruiting services love.

We know about them well before the recruiting services sometimes, But we do want a highly rated class because it does attract other highly rated players. As Stallion calls it the Pied Piper effect.

if I had my choice I'd go with recruits with multiple offers as EASILY the best barometer. The only real negative is that players commit so early now that sometimes quality recruits don't rack up many offers after early commitments. But if they really are quality then good programs are going to keep going after them. Especially these days-I'm really not sure where Rivals is going with this grade inflation where 65% of the Texas crop is considered 3 star. I'm backing even further off the star system.

I think it is just one of those years where we just have a deep crop of good players in Texas.

I was listening to the Arkansas Rivals guy this afternoon while working out. He was talking about some of their offers that were drawing complaints because they did not have any star rating. He pointed out the other teams that had offered the same players such as Alabama, Florida, LSU, etc. He then mentioned that many kids have never sent any video in so they were not rated but the schools still knew about them. Offers are a good thing, especially if the one of many that gets a yes is us.
