I collect SMU stuff from our beginning through the 60's usually purchasing it off ebay. I just purchased a 1968 game program from the SMU-A&M game at the Cotton Bowl. I was in the 6th grade when I attended it. What a great game!!! Mike Richardson was fantastic!!!

I now curious how many of you guys that played during '68 are in the program? Mrydel, are you one of them? Let me know if you can as I hope to see you in it. Anyone else, let me know. I also have the '66 Cotton Bowl game program (with Georgia) & the Baylor game for that year. 24-22!!!

Unless they listed frosh players, I will not be in it. Freshman were not eligible in those days. I was in the student section cheering if they give a shot of the stands. If they do happen to list freshman in the program, I will autograph it for you for a minimal fee.

don't forget to ask for postage and handling. In a side note, MM65 is willing to autograph your copy of the 1965 Homecoming Game where the Homcoming Queen gave him a kiss on the cheek.

mrydel: Did notice a name in the Mustang Club at that time. Did you have a relative as a member? They had all the members' names shown, too.

I was freshman in ’68 and was at that game. Being from NJ, and going to school in Dallas in ’68 you might imagine the, ah, culture shock. So I’m in the cotton bowl and most of the fans are for A&M. they’re squatting in the 12th man formation and their dates are all standing. OK, this is strange. The A&M cheerleaders look like drill sergeants (this is during the Vietnam War and most college kids didn’t look like this). They face the huge A&M crowd, make like a chicken wing gesture with their arm and the stadium erupts into a clap of thunder, “Gig Em Aggies, AHHHHHHHHH.” Did I tell you I was from Jersey? Never seen anything like this.
Yea, that was an experience that I can still remember after all these years. The old SWC was the real deal. Everyone hated everyone, everyone was your rival.
