TCU gets big payday for playing Clemson

Win by TCU would make trip even more profitable

FORT WORTH – TCU will collect a $1 million guarantee today for filling a hole in Clemson's schedule last winter after Central Michigan dropped out.

The Horned Frogs could leave Memorial Stadium with more than the money.

No. 15 TCU has already beaten an Atlantic Coast Conference club this year, having opened with a 30-14 win at Virginia. The Horned Frogs beat Stanford last fall, Texas Tech in 2006 and Oklahoma four years ago.

Now comes Clemson (2-1) before 80,000 fans at "Death Valley."

"This game is going to tell a lot," TCU running back Joseph Turne said. "If we come out and take care of business, it'll set a tone for the rest of the year."

Wow what a great cash haul for heading out to 'Death Valley' ......but I wonder what the travel costs are for TCU to go out there and what the 'net' really is for them?......

they can charter, stay in Greenville-Spartanburg area and take home a big part of that check. Not to mention a great game day experience. One of the better traditions in the country. Clemson is an ACC program that more closely resembles SEC programs like Auburn, Georgia, Arkansas, etc...small town that quadruples in size on college football gamedays. Clemson's run down the hill through a sea of students after touching Howard' rock is. I hope SMU gets to visit someday.

I have heard that is one fun place to watch a game and would like to add that to my list of places to take in a game......should be a fun game to watch today. Are you going to the game? And yes that would be a great game for SMU in the years to come....will be quite some time for that to happen unless they do what TCU did and fill in for a team that pulled out ....we could use a payday like that......

I had "tentative" plans to travel to Clemson this a.m. but forecast is 90% chance of thunderstorms and after watching Clemson vs BC (on TV) play a 5 hr rain/lightning delayed game last week, decided I would stay home and watch all the games from a comfortable seat where the beer is cold and I am sure to stay dry.

Understood...good plan....is the TCU/Clemson game on TV there and can it be watched on line? its not on here on TV but it's on two ( 2?) FM radio stations.....just wondering as we only have one radio telecast ....and its an AM station? ...even though I like the 'Ticket'....its harder if not impossible to find portable audio units that have AM capabilities...

Sorry not good writing by me...the TCU game does have two FM stations covering the game today locally...I meant to convey SMU games only have one station covering their games and its an AM station ...the "Ticket' is a great sports station but when we want to listen to a SMU game its harder to do so beacuse its only on AM...thanks though
