Greetings Ponies

Postby frogfriend » Sun Sep 27, 2009 11:03 pm

Good evening SMU,

I realize that many of you may not have traveled to Fort Worth due to the long haul down I-30 and I wanted to offer any assistance I can on things to see/do while you visit the TCU campus.

Best thing to do on the treck down: Visit the Ripleys Believe it or Not Wax Museum. If the weather is nice you could even take a stop by Hurricane Harbor Waterpark.

Best thing to check out on campus: Make sure to stop by frog fountain for great picture opportunities.

Fun Frog fact of the night: Did you know that TCU has its own registered brick with Acme brick? If you all are looking for remodeling on campus/at your house make sure to ask for the "TCU brick" next time you visit your local Acme.

Did you know Trinity University in San Antonio also has it's own registered brick? Incidentally, "Trinity Red" is really sort of pinkish.

Actually, they've done a really nice job with all of the buildings they have added in that quad that is across the street from Daniel-Meyer. Think the new student union is there along with new dorms. Their campus has come a long ways.

Still can't touch the beauty of our campus but it's not the eyesore it used to be. But all of this is coming in because their football program.....oh, nevermind.

As ugly as that campus is I'd suggest a complete redo using those TCU bricks.

Seriously, TCU is a private (State) school but it looks/feels just like ur on the UNT campus.

Let us know if u boys need a loan on that.

Sure. There's nothing that screams "Harvard wannabe" like red brick. Which is, appropriately, the same campus scheme Baylor uses.

Baylor and SMU. Apt fellow-travelers.

Nice to see that fountain actually working in that pic. When I toured (I was accepted, like all Mustangs) that ugly thing wasn't even working.

Also, I often tell the story of the tour guide claiming proudly that TCU is the only people who can use "Frog's Brick Yellow". I don't think "brick color theft" is going to be an issue. Just a hunch.

Thanks for the history lesson. Meanwhile, in more modern times, I know at least a half-dozen kids who failed to be admitted to TCU, but were immediately snapped up by SMU.

Had a family member accepted into TCU and toured the campus. Was introduced to a few members of the not too bright student body and realized it was a joke compared to other "less ranked" institutions. The bottom line - in just about every aspect excluding football...
