Welcome to TCU

Postby Fiscuits » Mon Sep 28, 2009 1:48 pm

This is probably not the typical TCU post over here on PonyFans and for some of you, this is probably not your first trip to TCU or Fort Worth....but regardless I want to welcome you over to Fort Worth & TCU. Hopefully we'll have good weather and the tailgating will be in full effect. I hope that as many Pony fans as possible will come over and have a great time.

If you guys have any questions about some of the local bars, restaurants, parking, etc...for pregame, please email me at [email protected] . I'll be happy to try and help you out.

Looking forward to Saturday - Go Frogs!

ps. if you want some free places to park go to:
http://gofrogs.cstv.com/tickets/tcu-tickets-general.html# for that information. There is free parking at Paschal High School with a free shuttle. Also, there is free parking at McKinney Bible Church with a free shuttle. That is not listed on the gofrogs site for some reason, but if you Google this church, it is on Hulen Street. Both shuttle locations are five minutes away from campus. There is no tail gating at these lots, but there is plenty on campus.

If you are bringing Kids, kids are allowed to run on the field around ten minutes prior to kickoff with their parent (you have to line up about 30 minutes prior). Admittedly, this is as TCU enters on to the field not SMU, etc...but most kids (even TCU kids) don't know the difference, they just like being on the field and running from end to end with the music playing etc...

Actually, I like their tailgating scene and Frog Alley is a good touch for kids. Have a friend of mine who has a spot in the elevated spot in the North End Zone where the kids get to use card board boxes to slide down the hill. It's pretty safe.

Had a lot of fun there last year when I went to the BYU game. Don't know when the Utah game is. It's not in conflict with one of ours, I'll definitely make it a point to try and go over.

Yes, I forgot about Frog Alley. While there is plenty of full on, partying going on in Lot 3 (not very kiddo friendly)....Frog Alley and Lot 6&7 are extremely family friendly. Frog Alley has face painting, jump houses, giveaways, etc....and it is all free.

My spot is in Lot 6, and any Pony fan I see gets beverage and a sincere Welcome.

I didn't check his link but I do know you could park at the Colonial Country Club parking lot and take a bus over. I did that two years ago and it worked out really well. It was really funny because I was the only one wearing red vs. a sea of purple.

This has been shut down. CCC now hands out wristbands to members only (and their guests) for the free shuttle. However if you know a member, have them get you a wristband and your set.

Now that you say that, I think that's how it worked because I followed him into the lot.
