Eric Dickerson/Craig JamesI have a personal question for anyone that is willing to share their opinion. I have an SMU mini helmet signed by Eric Dickerson. Craig James is going to be doing a book signing tonight at Stratford High and memorabilia is allowed. Would you get him to sign the other side of the helmet or not. Some have told me as an SMU fan it would be really cool to add the sig since both were members of the pony express, but others have told me it willl devalue the helmet. I am torn!!! What to do? Thanks!
Re: Eric Dickerson/Craig Jameson the antique road show it seems a baseball with all the team members is more valuable then one with only one signature. I would suspect the value would go up if you got the full pony express. It’s your helmet, what matters is what you want.
Maybe go after lance next.
Re: Eric Dickerson/Craig JamesIf you plan on keeping it, I would have him sign it. Otherwise, I think having a guy with a regular career in the NFL along with an NFL Hall of Famer would greatly reduce its value.

Re: Eric Dickerson/Craig JamesGood question. Maybe get another helmet if possible and have Craig sign it. That is a tough one. Best wishes in your decision.

Re: Eric Dickerson/Craig JamesI collected autographs way back when.
Bottom line, the more unique / rare you can make something the more valuable. There are a lot of individually signed items out there. The additional signature is appropriate to the item and makes it more unique to have both vs. just one.
Re: Eric Dickerson/Craig JamesI agree and it's not like Craig James isn't well known ....he is a nationally recognized sports figure so with him as well as Eric is should be much better and more unique because you DO have to go about and get both signatures for the Pony Express which makes it harder to obtain..a brass plaque with the helmet on it with something notating "The Pony Express 1981-84" with both their names on the plaque AND with their sigs on the helmet should make it pretty cool.....
Re: Eric Dickerson/Craig JamesYou will never get rich off that helmet.
Do what YOU want to do. If it were me, I would have both signatures...and maybe Lance's....THAT was the Pony Express
Re: Eric Dickerson/Craig JamesI am definitely keeping it for myself and would never expect to make money off it, just making sure I don't do something that would be considered a monumental aberration!!! As SMU alums I hope none of us would ever need to sell something like this to get money!!! I know devastating events happen, but tragedy notwithstanding I don't need or shouldn't ever have to sell it!
Re: Eric Dickerson/Craig JamesOh I forgot...this wasn't a MM65 thread
Re: Eric Dickerson/Craig JamesSince it's for your personal collection, I'd definitely add James to it since the Pony Express is such a huge part of the history of this program.
If you had Dickerson on something NFL-related, then I'd say leave it alone. But he and James will forever be linked together in SMU history, so it would be cooler to have both on there.
Re: Eric Dickerson/Craig JamesI have an autographed Navy Blue Phil Bennett SMU helmet.......would it more valuable if I got Copelands autograph on it as well?
Re: Eric Dickerson/Craig James
Only if he signs in blue ink. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Eric Dickerson/Craig JamesThanks to all who expressed your opinions!!! I went ahead and had him sign the ED signed mini helmet!
