What would happen if we pulled off an upset? Haven't been around here long enough to really know. But how would the fans, the media react? Like JJ said, the game is winnable. How important is the Iron Skillet? Let's just say it's Sunday morning after the game and we won. What would your personal reaction be?

oh, it would be wonderful, everything we could all imagine and hope for and more.
sadly, when I read the topic title, however, I remember the last time I saw a thread with that title, right before we played Tech on Labor a couple of years ago.
Hopefully with a different regime things turn out a little differently.

I wouldn't care at all about getting the "iron skillet" back. The win would obviously be huge considering the BCS hype the Frogs are getting. I realize TCU has an excellent defense, but it was hard to be impressed watching them last Saturday against Clemson. Yes, I know they beat Clemson in Death Valley. Besides the Clemson RB, that Clemson team didn't have any offensive weapons.
Our only chance is getting some points from the defense and pray Sanders-Robinson-Wilkerson get lose a few times. Witnessing that nightmare in Washington two weeks ago, it's hard to get excited. If he misses 3-4 open guys for TD's against a very average D, what can he possible do against a top rated D.

A road win over the No. 11 team in the nation would be the biggest post Death Penalty win for SMU. Not only would it go a long way towards legitimizing Jones and the progress he says we are making, but it would garner quite a bit of national attention as well. More important than all of that, it would make us 3-1 going into four more very difficult games but with a great deal of added confidence.
If we win this game we could very well go 8-4/9-3. It would be that kind of boost. However, it ain't gonna happen chief

Last time we beat TCU didn't we then get our [deleted] beat by A&M the following week?

PonySnob,
Forgive me if I don't think East Carolina at home is the same as A&M on the road a few years back. Thanks for being such a sweetheart though. Please never change.

I think that is called the trickle down affect.

If we somehow manage to win this game....
there will be a media feeding frenzy about how June Jones has already brought SMU back.

They are salivating for this story and probably already have the articles written up ready to go. I had started to see hints of this in some of the articles I read online.
That's the reason they say dont believe everything you read. Even if we somehow scraped out a win, it doesnt mean we are back, just a step in the right direction. There is so much work to do here, 1-2 years wont bring you back.

Please don't set yourself up for devastation. There is no chance of SMU winning this game. Zip. Zero. Nada.

Practices have been good and Shawnbrey will run well. Despite their size up front.
Look for the Ponies to play well, gain experience, and have some momentum going into ECU.
THAT will be a step in the right direction.
There will be improvement thru the next two weeks.

Patton is his usual cheery delightful self. Yeah we're not going to beat TCU but I bet you said the same thing in 05. I think we should at least take the bus ride over to see what happens. You don't have to be a miserable old doucher every day right?

Zip Zero Nada? Oh come on they said the same thing when Hayden Fry trotted out a 5-4 QB Inez Perez who tried to beat the Texas Aggies in 1967 at Kyle Field in Texas A&M SWC Championship season. Did that stop little Inez? No!!! We have at least as good a shot at beating the Frogs as litt' Inez had of beating the Aggies.
