Most of y'all are clearly not drinking enough

Some tough pills to swallow in the fourth when things blew up, but I saw great improvement overall. Our boys played physical. We played a team that on paper should dominate us at every position, competitively for 3 quarters. We don't drop that int, we're up 14-0. That sack on Dalton that got reviewed for 45 minutes was a hell of a defensive play, and would have been huge, but his knee was down, would have changed things dramatically. When is the last time we used the word "competitive." Remember we are still 1-0 in conference. We will most likely not see a team as good as TCU the rest of the year.
At the watching party at Brother Jimmy's in NY tonight, it was loud and PACKED, a raucous atmosphere, about 65/35 ratio frog-to-ponies (yes that's right I still say ponies), I had nice chats with some NYC frogs who were gracious in victory, and some ponies were nice enough to invite me and Mike to partake of their giant fishbowl monstrosity drink. Several bourbons and pbr's. Anyway, we are still a year or two away from TCU, that is clear, but I actually saw progress tonight (as did the frogs watching next to me who did not like it at all), and I was encouraged by that. Yeah that's right, I'm goin gumdrops and lollipops on this one, ECU is nowhere near as good as TCU is, go stangs

I tend to agree with you, KnuckleStang. This team is not as bad as the one that lost 48-7 last year at Ford. With the rainy conditions, I was surprised to see the offense play as well as it did.

BLM's first INT is still a mystery, though. There wasn't an SMU player within 15 yards.

There are some really quality special athletes out there for SMU and there is finally some depth and the O line is way improved and so is the d line......I feel sorry for the recievers as the throws are not in stride and way high and they deserve better.....we need to see another choice at QB...

Mojica had a ton of room to run on his int if he hadn't slipped. Not sure he would have scored but he did have a convoy of blockers in front. We would have at least been in field goal range.

Amazing that a defense can improve so dramatically from one year to the next. We're actually making plays, it may take some time to get used to that again

Agree. Must be really frustrating being ES or AR out there.

I had nearly the same experience and came to the same conclusion as KnuckleStang - and also felt extremely encouraged by the WSU game, which I attended.

This team is good enough to win 6 this year. We are presently competitive in Conference USA. This is primarily because the SMU defense, which gave us no reason to expect competence this year, has actually been solid. We have some boys who can play on that side of the ball. I could not have identified any, save Yenga and Banjo, last year. Now, we are also getting real production out of Reed, Frazier and especially Moore and Kennemer.

So forget the scoreboard and the INT numbers and quit calling for heads to roll - if you are actually watching the games, I don't know how you can get so angry. If you are truly this hyper-concerned about the difference between four and six wins in 2009, you're missing the bigger picture - which is that the foundation is starting to set for very good years in the back half of JJ's contract.

Sorry about that fish bowl. It was truly awful. It did make me forget some of the game, so it wasn't all bad.
