SMU Postgame Notes – October 3, 2009
No. 11 TCU (4-0), SMU (2-2)
Fort Worth, Texas

TEAM

The Mustangs forced three turnovers against TCU (2 fumbles, 1 interception); SMU has forced multiple turnovers in four straight games for the first times since the last four games of the 2001 season

The two takeaways by fumble are the most by SMU under June Jones

The Mustangs had one interception and now have 12 for the season

With three takeaways, SMU has 17 total this season (12 interceptions, 5 fumbles)


INDIVIDUAL

Chris Banjo
- Had his first career fumble recovery
- Had his second career forced fumble

Pete Fleps - Had his first forced fumble of the season and third of his career

Marquis Frazier - Got his first sack

Margus Hunt - Had his first career blocked kick on the PAT attempt at 10:41 of the second quarter

Chase Kennemer
- Had his first career fumble recovery
- Had a career-high 18 tackles, including one for a loss, his third game this season with 10 or more stops

Cole Loftin - Had his first 2 catches of the season

Bryan McCann
- Had 4 kickoff returns for 103 yards, a career-high returns and his second-highest yardage total (111 yards on 3 returns vs. SFA)
- He also had two pass breakups, his fourth career game with multiple pass breakups

Shawnbrey McNeal
- Had his first career receiving TD (24 yards from Bo Levi Mitchell at 14:37 of the 2nd quarter)
- His career-long 46 yard reception setup a TD reception by Emmanuel Sanders

Bo Levi Mitchell
- Had 2 passing TDs; now has 32 career passing TDs, which is sixth at SMU
- Had 240 passing yards; now has 4084 career passing yards, moving into sixth at SMU (passed Josh McCown, 4019 from 1998-00)
- Had 17 completions; now has 344 career pass completions, moving into seventh at SMU (passed Josh McCown, 340 from 1998-00)
- Had 213 yards of total offense (240 pass, -27 run), now has 3892 career yards, moving into 10th at SMU (passed Craig James, 3805 from 1979-82)

Robert Mojica - Had his second interception of the season (at Washington State)

Emmanuel Sanders
- Had a 4-yard TD reception, the 29th TD catch of his career which extends his SMU record; that is also seventh in C-USA history
- Had 74 receiving yards to extend his SMU record for career receiving yards to 2918 (second is Emanuel Tolbert, 2784 from 1976-79). He moves into ninth in Conference USA history.
- Had 8 receptions and now has 230 career receptions, moving into fifth in Conference USA history. He is currently second at SMU (Jason Wolf, 235 from 1989-92)

Matt Szymanski - Was 2-2 on PATs, now is 14-14 for the season

Was Yuri Yenga playing last night? If not that really gives me hope for the rest of the season, atleast on the defensive side of the ball.

Youri played, but in a very limited role. Would have been nice to have him at 100 percent.

IIRC I heard his name mentioned a number of times. Not sure that he played a great deal but he was playing some.

Kennemer with another huge game...the kid is simply always around the ball. I hope he gets some All-Conference mentions if he keeps this level of play up.

You're right. He is a player. Lots of football savvy and tough.

Kennemer laid some heavy hits in the second half. Although the helmetless TCU player's hit was the hit that made the highlight reel on ESPN.
