TCU Game Presentation 100 SMU Game Presentation 3

Didn't it feel like that!?! Minus the cannon, annoying train horn, fireworks, the purple smoking grasshopper-themed tractor, which apparently is supposed to be a horned frog, and the ugly ugly uniforms...THAT is what SMU needs to emulate for its game presentation. TCU's sound system is very crisp, not too loud, zero resonance. Perfect. They had great video board graphics and gladiator/O fortuna-style music during commercial breaks or lulls (instead of Mark Cuban and Don't Stop Bolevi'n). And Nike makes better merchendise/TCU knows how to market themselves.

I like that they constantly show other college games scores on their endzone scoreboard.

I thought they had a better gameday presentation compared to SMU. Of course, they did lose some points for having a kiss cam.

1. They played better music ... and it could be heard.
Advantage: Froggy High

2. You could actually understand their P.A. announcer (even in the rain).
Advantage: Froggy High

3. adidas gear is much better — our coaches and sideline staff look a hell of a lot better, and not just because that purple/black combination is so ugly. adidas is great stuff.
Advantage: SMU

4. That stupid zamboni needs to be blown up.
Advantage: SMU

5. The fireworks will be eliminated as soon as an elderly frog fan (poor bastards) drops dead from a heart attack.
Advantage: SMU

6. AGC stadium is a dump and should be demolished.
Advantage: SMU

7. Scores on scoreboard throughout game.
Advantage: Froggy High

8. Kiss cam on Frog board.
Advantage: SMU

Looking around that Stadium-I kept thinking that its going to take about half a billion to make that place look good. I wonder why they don't just start over if they are going to spend the numbers they are talking about

Good points Hal, I would like to have the PA and Music @SMU brought up to par and not be an obvious distraction. At the TCU game the Mustang Band played "Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple and "25 or 6 to 4" by Chicago, and enjoyed both. I'd rather hear more band and less garbage. Ditto on College Scores.

also pretty smart marketing to have all the Frog apparel right outside the tunnel at halftime. You could see it was commerce in motion...not just someone sitting at a folding chair watching people go by a-la mustanglockerroom.com

Smart marketing, yes. Smarter marketing would have been to have Frog raincoats and ponchos right outside the tunnel at halftime.

agree with that. That's what Disney does...as soon as the rain makes an appearance, all of the stores on the grounds pull out boxfuls of ponchos, and of course they fly off the counter.

You're not alone. Gets on a lot TCU fan nerves as well. Once in a while is okay, but it's waaay overused. Kind of like "She'll be Comin' 'Round the Mouintain."

Unfortunately, we did not get to overuse Peruna last night.

I thought they had a good balance between the canned stuff on the video board and letting the bands etc get into the act. Felt more like a college game than the cowboy/maverick wanna-be stuff we do. Maybe Orsini learned something by being in the stands last night.
