I love the new Mustangs. Thank You June. Don't let the old guard change your mind. Move us into the future.

I want to thank him for a QB or offense we can be proud of. Leave the masot decisions to someone else and concentrate on coaching.
Hawaii and SMU are apples to oranges to equate him wanting a big horse to him wanting the Rainbow gone from the helmet is absurd and laughable.

One again, the marketing geniuses on the Hilltop flub it. Peruna is the embodiment of everything that's still good about our program and our one link to a proud past. The big mustang is akin to Phil Bennett changing the uniform colors. Desperate to do something positive, they wreck one of SMU's only remaining traditions.
It seems pretty obvious to me, but by definition, you can't have a tradition if you keep changing it every few years.
Hopefully, this nonsense will blow over like the Noid.
If they want to do something positive, how about 99+1 band scholarships?

Is Peruna gay?

Marketing geniuses? I thought the marketing group in the athletic department had been dissolved. Is this the results of some outside marketing consultants? Coca Cola learned the hard way with "new coke"...I wonder how many times the athletic deartment is going to stub their toes before they learn. I don't know how they put their focus groups together, but it rarely seems like those groups represent the majority of SMU fans.

That you for crapping on one of our last remaining traditions. Once we eliminate this, we will finally have no links to the pre-death penalty era, and SMU will forever been looked at as a mid-major at best, where a bottom tier bowl game is a wonderful season and you wont' have to do what is requried to actually win at the top level.
Thank you for finally pushing our of our minds when we were included with U. Texas. It's time to embrace being included with U. Tulsa.

We have sucked at the major sports (football and basketball) for 20 plus years. Get over it losers. Support the change or stay at home!

Isn't winning the missing ingredient to being linked with the Pony Express and other pre-DP teams? I fully realize that Peruna has been a part of a great history, but the thoughts of being competitive with the likes of a Texas have been removed for a long, long time.
With that said I don't think the head coach should be wasting his time with mascots and school colors (how many yrs before black is in the mix??) when he's fully invested in a highly questionable QB...

I am pro peruna, but no one outside of the SMU alumni link peruna to the glory days. The college football world has forgotten about us, and even when the TV stations throw us a bone and talk about the pony express during a current game, it is forgotten by the viewer after the next play. We are what we are. We only have ourselves to blame. Neither a pony nor a couple of geldings are going to make us prominent in the football world again. The only tradition I care about is winning.....and man we haven't had that tradition around here in a long time.

Yes, let's embrace the change. We go from a horse with a pair to a pair of horse without a pair. I'm sooooo proud to be a Mustangs fan!

The only media attention related to the glory days that SMU gets these days is the fact that Craig James is still widely recognized and acknowledged...ironically as "the Big Pony."

Losing tradition = 20 years
Peruna tradition = 77 years
Peruna was here 57 years before our losing "tradition" started. Peruna was leading the team on the field here when Kyle Rote's mom was still wiping his snot. Our losing tradition is not Peruna's fault. It's the fault of the very people who are making the decisions to change the tradition of Peruna! Idn't it funny how things work sometimes?
I am depressed. And I am disgusted with my athletic department
Let me be clear, I will definitely be happy when our team is turned into a winner. But when that happens, it will not be because of a dumb [deleted] mascot change. A full sized horse with a RIDER leading the SMU Mustangs on the field will always disgust me. And winning will never make it wear off, as the athletic dept. is hoping
