this is a must win game for the smu ponies. lose this and all bowl hopes go down the drain.
houston, navy and tulsa are sure losses.
rice may be the only sure win. emphasis on may.
utep and marshall are probable losses but who knows.
tulane is a toss up.
go fight win ponies!

According to that breakdown, we do not go bowling even if we do win. Guess we should just give up.

rice utep marshall and tulane are must wins if we lose to ecu but i'm not counting on winning four in a row.
i think we have to beat ecu since we are probably going to lose to one of the above. doubt very much that we can beat any of the others.
that is my optimistic opinion.

I believe that half of my time spent on this board is trying to revive the dead.
My Motto is | Dream | Focus | Achieve |
Not | [deleted] | Fail | Moan |
I envision a win of one of the three games mentioned above.
I’m not being paid to covert your way of life or thinking.

Right there with you One Trick! There are really only a handful of boo birds, but since they are always squawking, it seems like alot more. BEAT ECU!

I don't view this as a must win at all, except that this place will be friggin' unbearable if we lose. ECU is very good. We can lose this game and go bowling. Hell, we can lose both the ECU and Navy games and still go bowling. The only problem is putting up with the people committing hari kari.

I love this new math. Optimism at its finest. Dooby, is there any way we can lose to ECU, Navy, Houston, UTEP, Tulane, Marshall, Tulsa and Rice and STILL go bowling?

Yes. We go to 300 on Beltline. First bucket of beer is on you.

For the record, there is not one team on our schedule left that I view as a sure loss. SMU can beat any of these teams. None of them are that great. SMU is going to have to play well and BLM is going to have to play better, but any of those games can be won.
Since the Summer, I said the goal was to win six games and that was doable if SMU beat SFA, UAB, UTEP, Marshall, Rice and Tulane, all of which should be considered winnable games. JT, you and I specifically had a conversation where I further said that while it was not critical, the hope was that SMU would be .500 after six games.
JT, if you want to refer to what I have been saying for three months as "new math," go ahead. From where I stand, I am among the most consistent people on this board.

Looks like we could use JJ to change the culture of losing on this board.

Maybe we should ask T.Boone to donate a couple of messageboards to help with the message board presentation?

suddenly utep and marshall don't look like sure things and we don't look so great ourselves. maybe we pull off four in a row but i'm not counting on it. we need to beat ecu and hopefully even another before that last four stretch. btw houston is not doable even with that loss to utep. they did beat osu and tt which we could never do.

If this program is on the path to making the strides many anticipate it will, winning a game like this would go a long way to turning more heads and convincing more people that it does have a chance to get better.
October is going to be a very demanding month. But two of these games are at home, and its sitting right there for this program to either move forward or lament missed chances.
Go Peruna!
Oh, and the quarterback needs to stop suffering from knuckleheaditis.
