Any advice on parking/tailgating at Ford Stadium?

We have seats in the front row of section 126. Will we be able to see over the players and sideline crew?

We are looking forward to a big time and hope the ECU offense finally shows up this weekend. Here is a preview of what we hope to see:

Welcome to Big D...as you can see from our board other matters which could have been avoided by certain unamed AD people and or Admin people are distracting us from our primary duty and talking smack to you eye patch people..

Unless you have a parking pass to get on campus...forget it.. There is a cash lot on the far East End of campus on SMU BLVD, then you have to hike in.

I suggets using Dallas DART rail and going to Mockingbird Station or parking there and taking the shuttle busses over to campus. Be sure and check out "The Boulevard." Our President, Dr. Turner, was at Ole Miss and got the idea from "The Grove." The Bouvard is the main entrance (although there is plan to change this as well) from the South End of the Campus. That is were all the SMU folk tailgate. Be sure and be there between 5:30 and 6:00 as the Alumni Band plays up and down the South End of the Blvd. (It can be quite entertaining to see old band people enjoying their adult beverages and really putting on a show.) Anyway, welcome again.

Your seats are faily high and you shouldn't be restricted. We sit in the front row during practices and most people are standing up on the sidelines and I don't recall a problem.

The real question regarding tailgating is what do you want to do? The blvd. is full of individual tents, with tv's food and beverages. Some will just hand you a cool one if you look thirsty. Your school will probably have a booster or alumni tent with food and beverages near Dallas Hall, the far end (away from the stadium) of the blvd. If you want to setup on the blvd. you need to get there three to four hours early and find an open spot. The center is all reserved ($$$) by die hard fans and groups. But, you can often find a small spot on the stadium side. But you will need to get there early, it is simply logistics, once they block traffic, except for one vehicle per reserved location, getting your equipment, food etc. is a real problem since you can't enter the area, even to make drop offs, without a special season pass ($$$).

Your best bet might be to simply bring a small soft cooler with a couple of cold ones, walk the blvd, look at the coeds, eat at you alumni tent then when you run out of beverages, look thirsty until someone offers...

Tommorrow there will be more posters giving specifics on tailgates on the blvd. that have generous excesses...

thanks for the kind welcome. we have about 15 of us in my group and were hoping to park, tailgate, and mingle with the Mustang fans near the stadium without going to the ECU Alumni tailgate. I am driving in to Dallas tomorrow and will check the place out.

ECU Fan: in addition to the above parking recommendations there are more than plenty of places to park your car in the residential streets just west and south of the campus.

But be aware that you are not going to be able to literally tailgate. You will have to walk from your car or parking lot/shuttle, to the boulevard. It is a great place to eat, drink and enjoy the scenery. I would suggest, as another said earlier, carry a small disposal cooler with life sustaining beer or booze, and then sponge off the regulars on the Blvd. We are friendly in that way. Find the BUS Stop or the Special Delivery tent and you will be well treated. Be aware also that there is no reentry allowed if you leave the stadium at halftime so plan accordingly.

If one does bring an adult beverage, please pour it in a non clear container and then consume. We have some quirky rules about adult beverages at SMU. We wouldn't want the world to know that a few of us consume adult beverages. Might harm the passive imagine we have cultivated.

Good advice here so far....

The Blvd is the place to be, you will love it, but it is not your traditional tailgate...Get there early and you can park on the streets for free, bring disposable coolers with what you want, find an empty spot and party..make sure to check out some of the better tents, everyone is friendly and you can always find a cold beer or brat....

As far as your seats go, just get in the stadium, should be plenty of room and you can sit where you like with your Pirate Brethren, seat sitting is not enforced, you can move to any empty area you want, so you can easily go a bit higher to get a better view.

Pirate dive show makes a splash at State Fair of Texas

Sure, the Pirates of the Caribbean Dive Show has a plot.

Captain Kiddie and a crew of misfit pirates aboard a ship get stuck in a tropical storm. The captain's restless crew forms a mutiny.

But who cares about a comedy routine filled with corny jokes?


The crowds at the State Fair of Texas come for the dives, the comedic dives, the simultaneous dives – and, especially, the perilous dives.

"My boss always tells me, 'This isn't a low-dive show, this is a high-dive show,' " diver Juliana Phelps said.

But when the pirate divers stand 80 feet in the air, about to fall straight to the ground, they think about almost everything except being so high in the sky.

As they climb up a mast, they focus on their tired arms. As they step out onto the 1-foot-by-1-foot perch, they look at the gathering crowds.

Then, quickly, they shake their arms, staring into the 10-foot pool below, and take the plunge.

It's just another day at the office for the performers. Diving comfortably close to the pool? That's for wimps.

At other times during the show, the pirates jump off a board about 10 feet above the ground and spin before splashing. They jump rope as they dive from 30 feet in the air.

Pirates aren't frightened by a little bit of rain, and so the Pirates of the Caribbean Dive Show goes on regardless of the weather. And, despite the precipitation, fairgoers still turn out to ooh and ahh at the jumps.

They do jumping dives. Flipper- and froglike dives. Backward dives and somersault dives.

It takes a certain kind of performer to do these daring dives, day after day.

"You're not going to find a high diver with a regular desk job," Phelps said.
