With Houston dropping that game at UTEP, we have to be part of the conversation. ECU is good football team. We are making progress. What this team needs now is confidence and support!!!!!!

Surprise me and Beat Navy

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. One game at a time.

Having said that, you are right that ECU is a good team. They are talented, fast, and big. We gave up a lot of size to them, and we pulled off a win.

Winning 6 games is this year's goal, and that is about as far as we go this time.

Long way to go. We need to beat Navy. We beat Navy and then we just need to go 3-3 for the second half for a bowl. After Navy, then think conference game.

We are one injury away from problems on both sides of the ball. We don't have the depth to go with a 8-0 conference record without staying healthy. And staying healthy that long will be hard to do.

Beating Navy elevates our program on a national scene. ESPN didn't give us respect with a win over ECU. A win over Navy and at least for this year, nobody takes a SMU loss for granite.

And I don't want to go bowling with a .500 record. If it happens I will not complain but I want a bowl with a winning season. Looks better and we earn more respect with a winning record.

I hear ya on the 6-6 record ( hopefully that is the least we can expect) but didn't the Army win over Vanderbilt take away the amount of possible Bowl games that the Conference USA can participate in? ....which would mean that a 6-6 record may be tough to go bowling anyway?....

I hope so. I don't like all this talk about getting to six. We need a winning record when we go bowling.

beating Navy would be HUGE for this program. That's a quality program that took Ohio State to the wire at the horseshoe, completely overwhelmed Rice and do I have to even mention what they did to us last year?

If we beat Navy we will win 7 maybe 8 games. We will know a lot more about this team after next Saturday.

you're right, and we would have the makings of a real home field advantage. Our next home game would have added significance, and would be against Rice-certainly winnable.

A win against Navy or Houston would be shocking to me.

Beating Houston wouldn't shock me at all. We had them beat last year and found a way to lose that game. Its all about confidence. If this team beats Navy then we may just be too young and scrappy to know we don't belong at the top of the conference. The encouraging thing about this team is that we have a real defense. We have a big, athletic defensive line, capable linebackers, and a ball hawking secondary. Defense will always keep you in games. If we can start to get it going offensively we can beat every team on the docket.
