SleevesIs there some method to the madness of SMU's undershirts? Some guys wore red, some guys wore blue, some guys wore white, some guys wore two different color sleeves? Is that some sort of "expression" from the individual players (who are supposed to be a TEAM)? Just found it odd. Isn't it called a UNIFORM for a reason?
Also, don't care whether we wear red or blue jerseys at home. Guessing we will wear red until/if we lose at home (who says football coaches are not superstitious?) If that's the case, how about some red replica jerseys for sale? The blue replicas are solid, but we may not wear blue at home all season. As for the bowl talk, by the way, Everybody relax. If we win 7, we will be in the postseason and get the extra weeks of practice (which is the most important thing). So, don't start picking and choosing and projecting into bowl season. The boys need to keep winning first and let someone else worry about the hotel and travel arrangements, if it comes to pass.
Re: Sleeves
Relax you say. You act as if we are already invited to a bowl. Lets get to a bowl then we can relax. "We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown

Re: SleevesI was listening to the ticket and heard something about a few of the players wearing pink?
Re: Sleeves
True story... almost. I only saw one wearing pink sleeves. pffffffffffft - I see the ScrewUp Fairy has visited us again.
Re: SleevesFor the most I think it's just the players trying to be individuals while staying in uniform. Personally, I'd like to see complete uniformity on the field, but I think June is a coach who doesn't really care about that kind of stuff as long as the players are playing well. Yes, I know that sounds nice and hypocritical since this is the same coach who is getting involved with mascots and game presentation, etc. But pretty sure that's how he rolls when it comes to letting the players do their own thing.
I do wonder if Aldrick Robinson knows someone who was a victim of breast cancer since he was wearing pink sleeves and that was the big thing in the NFL last weekend. If so then that was a nice tribute and a good reason to "stand out" on the field.
Re: SleevesThe only guy I saw wearing the pink sleeves caught a 96-yard touchdown pass.
I'd hand those sleeves out to the whole team next week...
Re: SleevesAl is just a quirky kind of guy and enjoys being different. As far as I know, I don't think he knows anybody close to him who was a victim of breast cancer. I don't really see the big deal with the different sleeves - we are all still wearing the same jersey, that's all that really matters, don't ya think? That's just like accessorising - the tape, the gloves, the eyeblack, same deal.
Re: SleevesI just assumed Aldrick was wearing the pink sleeves (actually looked more like a red shirt that had been washed with the whites) to emulate more what we have seen from the NFL the last few weeks.
Re: SleevesHaha yeah that pink was more close to purple than anything...Yeah, perhaps you are right. I just know that if anybody would willingly wear pink sleeves, it would be Al...he likes doing things differently!
Re: Sleevesreggie bush started this a few years ago... as more people started doing it, nike made their compression shirts with two different sleeve colors. was popular for a few years in the NCAA, seems to slow down. the only reason you dont see it in the NFL is because of the dress code.

Re: SleevesTo me, it just looks sloppy and high schoolish. We have great uniforms and one of the classic helmets in college football, and for the guys to wear different colored sleeves just cheapens them. I don't mind Al or anyone else being a free spirit, but it really isn't cool on Saturdays. Wear the pink sleeves under your practice uniform all you want. Look like you mean business on gameday. I wish some of the team leaders would step up and remind the guys that this is a team game. If the are going to be a "uniform" team on the field, they need to look uniform...not like a few individuals who want to stand out. Chris Banjo is supposed to represent Jerry LeVias on the field. I don't think Mr. LeVias would ever pull off a look like that. I know a good majority of the players read this board. Come on, guys, look good out there! Look "uniform" out there!
Re: Sleeves
Wow, it is amazing how people will reach to find something to [deleted] about when they cannot [deleted] about too many interceptions or a loss.
Re: SleevesI mean, as long as the equipment room supplies all of the sleeves, bands and extra things...I don't think it's going to change. This is now, you never know what Mr. LeVias might have worn...things do and can change, kind of like the mustang/pony thing...
