Article on the SMU game from Navy's perspective

Postby Garret » Tue Oct 13, 2009 3:22 pm

This game is very interesting for Hawaii fans. I loved watching Ken Niumatalolo and Ivan Jasper (Navy's offensive coordinator) play for Hawaii, and the scheme Navy uses on D vs. SMU could indicate the scheme they will use against Hawaii.

"This is going to be a tough game for us. SMU is coming off a big win versus East Carolina and is playing very well right now," Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo said. "I have great respect for Coach Jones and he has done a great job of turning around that program. You can see the mentality of the team changing."

"I think the players are starting to learn June more and have a better understanding of his philosophy," Niumatalolo said. "It's pretty obvious on tape that they are more comfortable offensively. (SMU) returned a lot of players and they are executing much better after having a year in the system."

No bulletin board stuff from Navy this week. Wonder what Niumatalo thinks about the geldings vs. Shetland controversy? How will that affect Navy's preparation?

Do you think Niumatalo is telling his team they have to be prepared for the Shetland‘s load and the Gelding’s load on their sideline?

June invented the Peruna Conspiracy to take pressure off his QB. BRILLIANT
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

well, he has been hanging with the dean of strategery
I will not make age an issue in this campaign. I'm not going to exploit for political purposes my opponent's youth and inexperience.
