As the Navy game approaches, SMU thought police in action

It appears that given Ponyfans independent relationship with SMU athletics, it would be natural to consider that SMU administration and athletic is laying down the law with all of the media people that cover them about Juan and Jose coming.

Are they doing everything to silence the dissenters? All of the sudden, the football page (the most viewed board on this site) -- filled with threads about the horses for the last two weeks are now suddenly moved to the Around the Hilltop page (a far less trafficked board). Hmmm. Isn't that interesting.

Were the Mods threatened with access to the teams? Were the Mods "encouraged" to do this? Were the mods threatened that their sponsors would be contacted because big money people like Pickens don't need this bad PR days before this?

I'm sorry this smells.

ALL OF THIS MAY BE INACCURATE BUT I'M PUTTING IT OUT THERE BECAUSE THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME SMU HAS RUN ITS HENCHMEN OUT THERE OVER CONTROVERSIAL ISSUES!!

I think it was moved becasue it has become boring. That is where they move all threads that are boring.

Maybe it's because that's where they belong.

makes you wonder. Cant imagine a real reason to move the discussions other than quelling dissension. Is it really that hard for people who can't handle simple debate to avoid the clearly labeled gelding threads? Puleeze. Somebody in another thread made the point that if this wasn't a football issue, then why did they parade JJ to the press conference for this thing, DURING football season?

That was me who said that, and I stand by it.

Clearly a football issue - Peruna's main task is part of football.

Peruna threads are no different from game presentation threads, announcer threads, attendance threads, boulevarding threads, band threads, and concession threads.

All historically are allowed on the football board.

Actually, threads that are boring get no replies and thus fall to the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, etc. page on the forum list (when sorted by the most recently active threads).

Well, you still have the sticky at the top of the board to voice your opinions. I guess all of the personal verbal battles were only important if others were ease dropping. Hard to be macho when no one else is listening huh?

Yes, all of what you say is inaccurate. This site maintains an excellent, independent relationship with the university, its administrators, coaches and student-athletes. Not one person employed by the university threatened us with anything, or even casually asked that the moves be made. The decision to delete some threads was made because they had spiraled into petty name-calling and personal attacks, and the decision to move certain threads was made because they were burying football topics on the football board.

In the future, if you have an issue with the decision to move or delete threads, please contact me by PM. Thank you.
