Unfortunately, the poll is not scientific. A pure internet poll can easily be influenced. Would be interesting to see a more scientific poll.

The article does a good job of the history of Peruna, etc. I thought SMU had a Mustang/horse and riders at one point -- forgot what they were called. Would be nice to know that part of our SMU history as well. Unfortunately, the author either did not know about it or left it out.

Apparently not a single person on here knew about it was well since we had to be reminded by our good friends in the SID office.

History includes what we may not know about today. What we may not have done or seen -- in other words, before our lifetime.

I'm just making a semi smart-ass comment that the idea sounds like it was a complete dud because about three people in the world knew we had a larger horse in the late 60's, apparently.

I graduated in the late 60's and vaguely remember the squires...I think...but have no memory of the horse.

Based on the pictures, and the lack of any of the most die-hard SMU fans remembering it, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the horse was NOT the point of the squires; the squires just rode a horse as part of a cowboy image.

There was no Big Phony Pony in the late 60s.

I do not recall one, but then again, I do not recall many things from the late 60's.

mmm....the poll isn't working anymore. I hope this wasn't caused by outside influence.

Someone probably didn't like that the "Peruna only" option was sitting around 70% last night.

Amen to that.
