Nice article about SMU. Interesting quotes from JJ:
"That said, we would be foolish to believe we're about to turn the corner. We're still two recruiting classes away from where we need to be."

"We've been fairly efficient offensively, but certainly not to the level that I would like to see. The quarterback has been inconsistent and still thrown too many passes to the other team," said Jones, noting that Mitchell has been picked off 10 times. "Bo Levi is learning on the job and he still makes some rookie mistakes."

"I've been very pleased with the performance of our defense. I think they are playing with more of a swagger and a confidence than we are on offense," Jones said. "They are making big plays and coming up with a lot of takeaways."

"I think recruits can look at the record book and see what I did at Hawaii. They know they can come here and play in an offense that will prepare them for the NFL," Jones said.

Annoying that BLM is still making "rookie mistakes," especially since he's not a rookie. I thought the whole purpose of wasting last year was so that BLM wouldn't make "rookie" mistakes this year. But anyhooo...

Hopefully last week was the turning point, and it will be much smoother sailing from here on out.

I agree that we are probably two full recruiting classes away from seeing the full potential of Jones' offense. I think in 2011 we are going to have one hell of an offense.

One thing that I have really enjoyed about having June Jones as our head coach is the confidence with which he approaches our football program and it's future. Even if something does not work out the way it's supposed to, it is apparent that he is in control of the program and confident that we will continue to progress. Everything from the way the team now practices to our continuous recruitment seems very well organized and light years better than previous coaching regimes at the school. I have no question in my mind that we will get the players he needs to see our program continue to rise in the future. I also have total confidence that between now and the end of the season our offense will improve significantly and we will be a major threat to any C-USA team.
