Opening Line SMU +16.5

Postby Duke Blue Blood » Sun Oct 18, 2009 10:58 pm

Not that every game is not important, but being a conference game, we need to win this one or the Tulsa game to prove we are legit.

That is a pretty big line. I was going to guess SMU +10.

my opinion is that's an easy money bet for Houston for a game at Houston.

No one's covered yet in our losses..

TCU-Patterson couldve, had he kicked a FG
WSU-we were favored
Navy-didnt cover.

SMU and the points? Or, are the suspicions of many correct, and our psyche has been devastated by the Navy loss, and this is our first real egg laying of the season, and Houston beats us by 3 TDs?

Why would their psyches be down when they just got done playing the best game they have played all year?

appreciate your answering my question with a question, and I would hope as you infer that such is not the case. My post was directed towards those on the board which hold an opinion counter to yours; there are several who have wondered exactly this question.

I'm not arguing with you. I'm just saying that when they looked at the tape from Sunday, they should have felt that they are playing better, the caliber of their play is improving and this thing is really moving in the right direction. They should more ticked off that they lost because they know a couple of mistakes can be corrected.

I can see it. They should too. It hurts to lose but every coach out there puts a 24 hour rule in place to celebrate the win/absorb the loss and move on to the next game.

They played that Navy option about as well as I've seen them play it. Navy was over 300 yards against us, but I just liked the whole approach. Thought the kids were prepared. They understood the gameplan and played their butts off.

I don't remember Bennett teams looking as prepared. But I am a little worried about our kicker situation.

Sorry General to disagree with you here, but I really feel we will lose this one by 3 TDs or more. If we can't pass and move the ball against Navy, just wait until we play Houston with the speed and athletes they have. Our defense will have to be on the field even more this week, will get tired 2nd half (not all their fault), and then Houston will get some extra late scores.

Our defense has taken advantage of passing teams. We get back to playing a team with a more robust passing game than Navy. The defense should be OK this week.

The key is the offense. Once again our offense wasn't up to the task. If our O performs even once when we started with the ball on the Navy end of the field, we don't have to worry about OT.

Houston will be a challange but we have a chance. We need to imporve our offensive execution. And it would be nice if we added some play action to the passing game. It might hold the backers and allow for more open passing lanes.

No, I was just talking about how they played against Navy. I have no idea what's going to happen in Houston. If you look at our recent history down there, we've played them pretty well. Won in 2005. Lost in 2007 with a fired coach by 10 points. Think we were down 3 going into the fourth quarter.

I do think we have a decent chance to split Houston/Tulsa, and I wouldn't have said that after the TCU game.

I am not worried about defense if offense can at least do something time of possession wise. My concern is after 6 games does not appear the offense is improving enough to give us any hope there.

Im on board with everything you said ponyte. We've got a chance and I would be suprised at anything less than a reasonably close game.

So bring plenty of liquor and no hope. LOL

I expect to win this game, same way I did the ECU game. And if they don’t it will not be the end of my day.

Math alert! The difference between 3TDs and 16.5 pts is just 4.5 pts. Wow , what a difference.
