Fans Leaving EarlyAt the start of them game all the seats around me were full. By the start of the second half there was pretty much two empty rows in front of me and half the people behind me had bailed. How is this possible on such a close/amazing game? I watched as people left throughout the 4th quarter and even right before overtime started! Quit coming if your wife or kids are going to make you leave after the first quarter when SMU is up over a team picked to beat us!
Re: Fans Leaving EarlyMaybe they left early as by the start of the 4th quarter, with Navy kicking SMU's [deleted] all over the field, people knew what the outcome of the game was going to be................
Peruna is my mascot!
Re: Fans Leaving EarlySome of our fans are the worst ever, the people on the row in front
of me always come late, leave early, never cheer and don't even wear S.M.U. shirts. ![]()
Re: Fans Leaving Earlymost of the people i saw leaving early were clearly not dressed for the weather. don't they watch the news or listen to the radio? wearing shorts when the low is supposed to be 47 should give you a hint. maybe wear some long pants. i did see some girls in dresses who stayed the whole game. that's what i call fans.
Re: Fans Leaving EarlyMy favorite is the group that arrives late, usually during a crucial and/or entertaining drive, stands while they search for their seat, then realizes they see a couple of people the know about 6 rows up, the couple of people walks down for a reunion, they hug, exchange niceties and catch up on Junior and Caitlin's school, Aunt Becky's surgery, etc, etc, all the while standing, then get up and leave right after halftime.
We have a routine each game where we'll sit in our seats the first half, then hang out in the endzone at halftime, then try out a couple of other vantage points in the second half. It was amazing how many people must have been in the endzone seats that left, as there was all kinds of evidence they'd been there (popcorn, cups, trash, etc).
Re: Fans Leaving Early
I know a lot of people leave early, but did it ever occur to you that some of the people who had been in those endzone seats in the first half might have been sitting in your seats during the second half wondering why whomever sat there in the first half had left at halftime?
Re: Fans Leaving Early
Amen to that. I've been to a number of college and football venues in my life, and I've never seen anything like this at any other venue. It is such a strange mentality. Why waste the time even showing up? Does your appearance at an SMU game mean that much to your friends? I swear the people around me don't even know there is a game going on. Except when we yell or stand, and then they look at us, but fortunately we only have to endure the hateful stares for about a quarter and a half. /No Hate. Just Facts. Occasional sarcasm.
Re: Fans Leaving Early
yup. could be.
Re: Fans Leaving Earlyone guy near me said he wanted to "beat the traffic"....uh?...
I was like dude try again because that is really a lame excuse... DONT BELIEVE THE LIES - PERUNA IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE! C-ya @ Milos!
Re: Fans Leaving EarlyI totally agree people should not be leaving, especially during a close game, but some of this is on SMU. They have to stop with the night games. They dont sale beer because they want it to be a family friendly venue, but the problem with that is the families have to leave around halftime to get their kids to bed. If they want to be family friendly then start the game in the afternoon so people with kids do not have to leave early. If they want to have night games than sale beer so people will stay and party.
Re: Fans Leaving EarlyWinning cures all - and I think our fans will learn to be better fans - and we will start adding better fans and crowding out the lame-o's as we improve.
Not that it is comparable - but I remember UT had the same culture and they worked hard from the admin to the coach and on down to change it. Now that we have a product on the field worth supporting - If JJ wants to change something for the better he should start educating SMU fans about what real college football fans do at a game - and leave the horsey stuff alone.
Re: Fans Leaving EarlyI confess I left early. 4 year old was already up an hour past his bedtime and was a ticking timebomb.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Re: Fans Leaving EarlyWell that was the last home night game this year, I like afternoon games better too.
Re: Fans Leaving Early
So I assume you left last week when ECU scored in the second half to cut into SMU's lead? Keep trying to find a negative angle for each and every post, troll, but the fact is, the Ponies are better and will continue to get better. Deal with it.
Re: Fans Leaving EarlyI know they did extensive research on the start times, ...but why not 5:00 start time as that gets past most of the day activities for the kids and leaves enough time to get something to eat, see the game and be back in time for the youngest kids to go to bed AND still be able to make it to Saturday Night parties etc.
I don't really appreciate those un-appreciative fans you speak about either but at least they come to the games and make the attendence numbers for us. We need all we can get...and maybe, just maybe the team can eventually win them over.....
