If we qualify for a bowl game and end up in Hawaii, and UH isn't on the far sideline, SMU will get home team treatment from the fans over there.

The flip side of that is that if Hawaii is not in it, they may have no interest in SMU.

here's WAC Bowls and Standings-anyone know the WAC Bowl picking order. Note Idaho is bowl eligible but one would think they would be steered toward their Humanitarian Bowl. Boise looks like a BCS team. Nevade, Fresno and Louisiana Tech would be options

1) Humanitarian
2) New Mexico
3) Hawaii
4) Poinsettia (if Pac-10 does not qualify)

well if the matchup isn't there-I smell the potential for a conference trade of bowls especially if TCU is still ranked in Top 10 but out of BCS. This happens sometimes just throwin it out there but how about TCU v. Notre Dame in the Hawaii Bowl and allow SMU to play on mainland. MWC trades Texas Bowl for Hawaii Bowl slot and we play in Houston in front of our fans in a nice stadium close to home

Texas Bowl is Big XII vs Navy

oops yeah I just saw that-but there are some factors that might make a conference bowl trade intersting. There was a bowl trade to get Boise into Ft. Worth to play TCU a few years ago-wasn't there?
1. ND playing better but probably not BCS
2. TCU could get royally screwed if Boise is the non BCS qualifier
3. Hawaii Bowl will face a really difficult financial position w/o Hawaii
4. Navy could play into the trade too since there is such a big Navy presence in Honolulu and Navy has already played in Houston-send Navy to sell seats in Hawaii Bowl-let SMU play on Texas Bowl(damn they already play Hawaii at end of season in Honolulu)

I think Boise vs. TCU was in the Poinsettia, no?
There are very few teams (other than Hawaii) that would sell more seats in the Hawaii Bowl than a June Jones-led SMU team. I believe that those teams are Notre Dame and Navy.

Boise also came here about 4-5 years ago and beat TCU in the FW Bowl by a field goal or something like that.

Checked it, in 2003 Boise beat TCU 34-31. I don't know if there were any major bowl swaps that made that game happen.

Navy plays Hawaii this season, I doubt if Navy wants to return to Hawaii for the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl.

We need Garrett to opine on this. What is Hawaii's interest in SMU if Hawaii is not bowl eligible?
