Practice/injury updates

• LB Pete Fleps took part in all drills, and said after practice that he feels no lingering after-effects after getting knocked out during Saturday's game against Navy. He said he "feels fine" and plans to play Saturday in Houston.

• C Mitch Enright, who sprained his left knee and ankle during Saturday's game, was held out of practice Tuesday, watching the workout while wearing a protective boot on his left ankle. He reiterated his statement immediately after Saturday's game, that there is no structural damage in either joint, and said the decision to sit out today's practice was mostly precautionary, and said the discomfort and swelling in the ankle have both gone down significantly.

"It's just to keep everything stable," he said. "It's so much better than it was, even yesterday. I'm playing."

Enright said he plans to try to practice Wednesday, or at the very latest, Thursday.

• During special teams drills, WR Brad Haynes pulled up lame while covering a kick and grabbed his left hamstring. Haynes got his leg checked out, and didn't return to the last few minutes of drills, although his limp was minimal.

"I just tweaked it a little. I should be able to practice tomorrow — I was just being careful today. But I should be back out tomorrow, and I'll be ready Saturday."

Ponypride,

are JJ's post game comments or any comments about the Navy game available anywhere?

I believe there's a video of the post-game press conference somewhere on SMUMustangs.com. I'll also check to see if I still have those notes — not sure I have them, but I'll check (in which case I can offer paraphrased quotes, not exact word-for-word quotes).

Thank you.

Thanks for the reports but I wish the injury reports would stay confidential. Let the opposition do a little extra preparation. I used to think this was sort of paranoid until I read the TCU coach Patterson commenting that he gets's daily reports from all sources including the internet on every team on their schedule , even during summer voluntary workouts! There is a reason why they are the #8 team in the country! Attention to detail in all facets of the game.

Yeah, and that reason is called "overrated".

I can't believe that there is something I actually agree with smuuth about. I will mark this day on my calendar.
