espn's Graham Watson on SMU defenseNon-AQ picks, Week 8
October 22, 2009 9:00 AM Posted by ESPN.com’s Graham Watson Houston 51, SMU 30: This is a key matchup in the race for Conference USA West. SMU is undefeated with big wins over East opponents East Carolina and UAB, but playing against West teams is a different story. Since few of them are recognized for their defense, these games are usually a shootout. Houston has consistently been dynamic on offense and should be able to put up similarly gaudy numbers against an SMU defense that’s one of the worst in the country. It tastes better when served from a Bowl (game)!
Re: espn's Graham Watson on SMU defenseDo you have a link to the story?

Re: espn's Graham Watson on SMU defenseAren't we almost leading the nation in takeaways this year?
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: espn's Graham Watson on SMU defenseWhatever. Our D is ranked something like 93rd in yardage and is tied for #2 in picks. Not great, but hardly one of the worst in the country.
Maybe this guy is just a little slow. We were ranked next to last in 2008. "It's a couple hundred million dollars. I'm not losing sleep over it." -- David Miller
Re: espn's Graham Watson on SMU defenseIf I'm not mistaken, the author is a woman. Normally, she's very good, but this assessment is way off-base.
Re: espn's Graham Watson on SMU defenseGraham Watson makes at least one "WTF?" statement every week.

Send her back to the kitchen. Maybe she can bake. Nobody in football should be called a genius. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein.

Re: espn's Graham Watson on SMU defense
Rachel Ray she's not. Although "half baked" might be a better description.

A ![]() Go Ponies!!
Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad
Re: espn's Graham Watson on SMU defenseSMU's defense is ranked higher than Houston's in 9 of the 14 categories listed on http://web1.ncaa.org/mfb/natlRank.jsp?year=2009&div=IA&site=org
Houston is #115 in rushing d, #111 in total d, #120 (literally last) in tackles for a loss, #119 in 1st down d, #112 in 3rd down conversion d. But they're also 4-1. He might have meant that their vaunted passing attack might make us LOOK like one of the worst defenses in the country. Maybe.
Re: espn's Graham Watson on SMU defenseUH has the #1 total offense team in the nation against our #92 total defense team. Not a good combination. OUr offense is #71 against UH's #111 defense. Basically, if our offense can score it will be a high scoring game. If our defense can get some turnovers we have a chance.
Re: espn's Graham Watson on SMU defensetotally absurd, right?
It tastes better when served from a Bowl (game)!
Re: espn's Graham Watson on SMU defense
