SMU Postgame Notes – October 24, 2009
At Houston 38 (6-1, 2-1 C-USA), SMU 15 (3-4, 2-1 C-USA)

NEXT GAME: SMU at Tulsa on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 1 p.m.

TEAM

Emmanuel Sanders now has 628 receiving yards for the season. He is the first SMU receiver with four 600-yard seasons.

The four sacks tonight are a high for SMU in the June Jones era. Houston had allowed just five on the season entering the game.

The Mustangs outgained Houston 397-394 in the game.

INDIVIDUAL

Ja’Gared Davis
- First career half-sack as he and Margus Hunt combined in the second quarter
- Had a season-high 8 tackles

Marquis Frazier – had 7 tackles, including 1.5 sacks; now has 2.5 sacks this season

Chase Kennemer - Had 12 tackles, and now has 10 or more in 6 of 7 games this year and has a total of 80 stops this season. He entered the game tied for sixth in the nation in tackles per game with an average of 11.3 stops.

Margus Hunt
- Had his first career sack, getting it on his first career tackle at 3:05 of the first quarter
- Had 1.5 sacks in the game

Zach Line – had a season-long 18 yard reception

Bryan McCann - Had 89 kickoff return yards and now has 573 KOR yards on the season, moving from 15th to 12th in a season at SMU

Shawnbrey McNeal
- Had 95 rushing yards on 15 carries, his third-highest yardage of the season
- Had 100 or more total yards for the fourth time this year (110 total yards - 95 rushing, 15 receiving)

Kyle Padron
- Saw his first action as a Mustang
- Had a 32 yard TD pass to Aldrick Robinson at 9:48 of the fourth quarter

Aldrick Robinson
- Had 40 receiving yards and now has 1628 for his career; he moves into ninth at SMU (passes Bobby Chase, 1615 from 2004-06)
- Had a 32 yard TD reception, his fourth of the season and 15th of his career. He is now tied for fifth in career receiving TDs at SMU (Ron Morris, 15 from 1983-86)

Emmanuel Sanders
- Had 47 receiving yards to extend his SMU record for career receiving yards to 3080 (second is Emanuel Tolbert, 2784 from 1976-79). He moves into eighth in Conference USA history.
- Had 6 receptions and now has 246 career receptions, which sets the SMU record (previous mark was Jason Wolf, 235 from 1989-92). He is fourth in Conference USA history.
- Emmanuel Sanders now has 628 receiving yards for the season. He is the first SMU receiver with four 600-yard seasons.
- Had 15 yards on 2 punt returns to up his career total to 398 yards; which moves him into eighth at SMU (passes Val Joe Walker, 387 from 1950-52

Taylor Thompson - Had seven tackles, including a half-sack; now has 1.5 sacks on the season

Taylor Thompson had 7 tackles? That's a bunch for anyone on the DL.
