DMN Reports on BLM's Injury"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: DMN Reports on BLM's InjuryFor the lazy:
SMU quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell was an interested observer at practice this morning as his status remains up in the air. Mitchell underwent an MRI yesterday on his dislocated left, non-throwing shoulder and the results showed soft tissue damage that included a slight but "insignificant" tear in the labrum, coach June Jones said. Mitchell is waiting for a doctor to re-evaluate his shoulder Wednesday. The key is if it's determined that getting hit again would cause further, more serious damage, or if the shoulder is stable enough for Mitchell to play. Even if Mitchell has to miss Saturday's game at Tulsa, it sounds like he would choose to rehab the shoulder and any potential surgery would wait until after the season. Also interesting:quarterbacks coach Dan Morrison mentioned that back-up Kyle Padron - and back-up Braden Smith as well in his own package - might have played in the Houston game even had Mitchell not been hurt. Morrison had been getting them ready to play in some fashion for the past several weeks. It wasn't certain if it would happen, but the coaches wanted them to be ready. "Put him in a series and get his feet wet and get him in some things we were confident he could do pretty well," Morrison said of Padron. Padron and Smith ended up sharing time for three quarters after Mitchell was hurt. Padron will start for SMU if Mitchell can't go Saturday at Tulsa.
Re: DMN Reports on BLM's InjuryMight be a good idea not to announce who the QB will be until the game starts. Make Tulsa prepare for 3 different QB's. 3 offenses.
Re: DMN Reports on BLM's InjuryI hate to put too much emphasis on this note, but really... I don't see how it could possibly, in any way, shape or form, be a good sign for Bo that they were going to burn Kyle's redshirt regardless of Bo's health.
Considering my perception that red-shirting Padron was vital to both his and the team's development, I had assumed that promoting him to the back-up spot was simply an attention getting mechanism to ensure that Bo would get back on track. But if they were going to just dump Kyle in there regardless, I'm not so sure any more. -CoS
Re: DMN Reports on BLM's InjuryPadron runs the ball well too.
Re: DMN Reports on BLM's InjuryIf you really think about it though, the starter can only be Bo or Kyle. Even if Braden were to start, it would likely just be to confuse Tulsa before sending out Bo or Kyle for 85% of the snaps.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney? Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.
Re: DMN Reports on BLM's Injury
A really good comment, but let's not say that too loudly.
Re: DMN Reports on BLM's Injury
I could be wrong, but I wouldnt be surprised if, as someone said the other day, BLM doesnt start another game for SMU

Re: DMN Reports on BLM's InjuryThanks Stallion. Everyone at least click on the link to the article so DMN will know that someone is paying attention to SMU and we can continue the coverage.

Re: DMN Reports on BLM's InjuryI read this to say that Bo ain't playing.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Re: DMN Reports on BLM's InjuryJune Jones and Dan Morrison had to be looking at Padron or Smith to step forward this season considering SMU abysmal third down conversions with BLM practically taking all the snaps last season and the first 6 games this year. BLM has had enough game experience and snaps to run the R N S successfully, but he hasn't done much with it, the defense helped a lot in the three wins. Colt Brennan started on the bench and became a starter after the 2nd or 3rd game of his soph. year and it took him the entire season to learn the R N S but he progressed weekly and the learning curve reached its peak by the end of the season, his junior and senior years, UH set all kinds of record in passing and scoring. Colt had about 50+ TD his junior year, that's after a 9 game learning curve his soph. year.
Re: DMN Reports on BLM's InjuryCompetition.
That is what football is all about. Competition. So, Bo thought he was number uno??? Well, not anymore!!!! Bo needs to get his stuff together. There are two more QBs ready to get their stuff together and getting playing time. Real game playing time with the 1st team. Bo can watch and learn from the side lines or he needs to up his game asap. Live and learn, Bo cause the team ain't waiting for you to "get it"! Competition! I love America!!!! Rolovich was a Number one JUCO QB. He was the heir apparanant. He stunck so bad that JJ was forced to start a true freshman named Tim Chang. After Tim Chang got injured and Rolo was watching from the side lines, he finally "got it" and came in to throw for over 500 yards for the next five games and save Hawaiii's season with a winning season and a Hawaii Bowl win. Rolovich is now the Hawaiii QB coach. I love College football! Go Bo! Go SMU!!!! ![]()
