Anybody else think the call by Tulsa to go for it on 4th and 18 from the SMU 44 was a bad one?
I think playing for field position, only down one score makes more sense with that down and distance. Plus there was over 5 mins left.

They did it last year from almost the same distance and scored a TD. They had run the punt 3 or 4 times and were hoping to catch us sleeping. Annoncers said a man was wide open but the rush kept the QB from getting the ball to him.

I too wonder. It isn't the usual play. Our defense was solid the entire game. If Tulsa flips the field and stuffs us then they are in a better position to tie the game. No doubt we are a horrible overtime team. Instead they give us the opportunity to hold them and get great field position of which we for once take advantage of.
One can debate this decision as it wasn't the crucial decision but it sure helped us.

In hindsight it was certainly a bad call but I really think he figured we let them do it last year and they could do it again this year.

what about the 3 and 3 call by JJ on the big catch by Sanders? Phenomenal catch, but if he doesn't haul in that low percentage pass, Tulsa has another chance with alot of time on the clock. JJ rolled the dice and won big this time. sure are shaky in the 4th quarter though.

I think that play was an automatic read. TU blitzed and left Sanders one on one and I think it is an automatic throw. I do not think it was the first called play.

I think Graham was an idiot for calling that play. But I think we would have won the game anyway.

Graham said in the Tulsa World that he made a mistake in calling that play.

I'm sure their fans are 2nd guessing him, too just as we would be questioning our coach is the roles had been reversed. Now, if they had converted....let's just say the mood would be different around here
