SMU Postgame Notes – October 31, 2009
SMU 27 (4-4, 3-1 C-USA), at Tulsa 13 (4-4, 2-2 C-USA),

NEXT GAME: SMU hosts Rice on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Gerald J. Ford Stadium. Kickoff is 2 p.m. It is Homecoming for SMU.

TEAM

SMU is 3-1 in Conference USA, the best start since going 4-0 to start the 1986 league slate

The 354 yards passing by Kyle Padron is an SMU record for passing yards in a first start. He was 20-30 for 354 yards and 2 TDs.

The Mustangs had two interceptions and now have 15 for the season.

Margus Hunt had a blocked PAT, his fourth blocked kick of the season (2 PATs, 2 FGs). That ties the SMU season record - Chad Patton in 1992 (1 FG, 2 PATs, 1 punt)


INDIVIDUAL

Cole Beasley - Had a career-long 49-yard TD reception at 4:22 of the second quarter

Ja’Gared Davis
- Had season-highs of nine tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks
- Had 1.5 sacks, now has 2.0 on the season

Marquis Frazier – Had one sack, now has 3.5 on the season

Margus Hunt - had a blocked PAT for his fourth blocked kick of the season (2 PATs, 2 FGs); that ties the SMU season record for blocked kicks

Chase Kennemer - Had an interception; his second of the season

Zach Line - His rushing TD with 1:57 left in the fourth quarter was his fourth of the season

Bryan McCann
- Had 12 kickoff return yards and now has 585 KOR yards on the season, which is 12th in a season at SMU
- Had an interception, his second of the season and 10th of his career

Shawnbrey McNeal
- Had a 36 yard receiving TD, his second receiving TD of the season (also has 3 rushing TDs)
- Had 114 all-purpose yards (44 rushing, 52 receiving, 18 kickoff returns)

Kyle Padron
- First start at quarterback for SMU
- Had 354 passing yards and 2 TDs in his first start
- Had a 61 yard pass to Aldrick Robinson, a 49-yard TD pass to Cole Beasley, and a 36-yard TD pass to Shawnbrey McNeal

Aldrick Robinson
- Had 104 receiving yards and now has 1732 for his career; which is ninth at SMU
- This is his second 100-yard game of the season and sixth of his career, tying him for fifth at SMU (Emmanuel Sanders holds the SMU career record with 12)

Emmanuel Sanders
- Had 79 receiving yards to extend his SMU record for career receiving yards to 3159 (second is Emanuel Tolbert, 2784 from 1976-79). He moves into sixth in Conference USA history.
- Had 5 receptions extend his SMU record for receptions to 251 (previous mark was Jason Wolf, 235 from 1989-92). He is fourth in Conference USA history.
- Emmanuel Sanders now has 707 receiving yards for the season, which is 13th in a season at SMU.

Matt Szymanski
- Had three punts that set a career-long at 62 yards; all three in the second quarter
- Hit FGs from 35 and 31 yards, he is 6-for-9 on the season
- His all three PATs and is 26-of-27 on the season

Taylor Thompson - Had a half-sack; now has 2.0 on the season
