Kyle Padron, QB, SMU: Threw for 354 yards in his first collegiate start, an SMU record, to lead the Mustangs to a 27-13 win over Tulsa.
Record for first game I presume.
Good for you Kyle.

was listening to espn radio (during World Series rain delay) driving home from Clemson last night and Beano Cook talking about Heismand candidates...completely dismissed Keenum because Houston "has no signature wins"
that comment was made right after talking about Colt McCoy as a candidate and acknowledging that they might have a tough time against Okie State! Shows how well they know Houston's schedule.
Bottom line is that it takes years for a non-BCS program to be recognized. How many years has TCU been strong? What about Boise? Of course, now that Boise IS getting more recognition, let's knock them down for that weak schedule and refuse to acknowledge they are the only team to beat Oregon. Wasn't Oregon a regional SI "cover story" and being labeled as a pre-season team to watch in the national championship picture?
Oh well...at least Padron gets some recognition for an outstanding 1st start

Whoa, I had no idea Beano Cook was still alive.

I guess there's a good reason they call him Beano.

His interviews have made me wonder that for the last 20 years.
