Start by attending the Victory Luncheon Monday at the Radisson - good lunch for $15 - no reservation needed - doors open at 11:30 a.m. - you can be back at work or at the driving range by 1:15 p.m. - see all of the outstanding plays narrated by June Jones. Encourage anyone with a pulse to attend Saturday afternoon's game - with our new QB we can win out - 8-4 sounds pretty good.

I will not be able to make Homecoming, but I did intitiate the "if SMU gets invited to a bowl, we are going, no matter when or where it is taking place, even if we have to go into debt to do so" conversation with Mrs. KS this morning. Good to have that one out of the way

Had that same conversation - Christmas Day in Iowa? Bring it on.

You're a good man, KS. I had the same convo with my girlfriend a while back. I hope we have to back up the talk with a trip somewhere fun.

Sounds like you have an awesome wife, Knuckler ... assuming she agreed.

Come on, Junior — when the Ponies are in a bowl game, any location will be "somewhere fun."
After 20-some years without a bowl, think about the bar tabs some PonyFans will rack up!

Her butt is planted firmly on the fence. But you know what, you got to plant seeds early if you want it to grow

Selfishly IF we are able to get to a bowl I am hoping for anything but Hawaii. Cost is not a factor for me but I have 7 grandchildren that kind of expect "Santa" to be around on the 25th. Anything that is not 24th, 25th or 26th of December would be my preference and of course Memphis would be on top of that list. But getting 7 wins will be a very nice present regardless of where we go.

I totally agree. I actually called my mom last night to tell her we may have to make some adjustments to the family Christmas schedule just to be able to watch the game if this happens. This did not go over well. Good thing I still have 7 weeks to work on this. Any other game, I might actually be able to make it to.
Plus, I'm not sure that Hawaii would be any better for recruiting. A trip to Hawaii sounds great to most kids, but wouldn't a game that is on national TV at a time when more people are actually watching--with a sizable SMU crowd in the stands--be better for the first bowl game back? I don't know. Maybe that's a toss-up.

I guess that I missed all along the fact that the Hawaii Bowl in 12/24. The mainland on a more traditional bowl date does sound a lot better.

I despise Memphis and have been there three times once for a bowl.

Nice thread...we are going no matter what, my kids are even excited (Vandy & U. of South)...would like it not to be in Hawaii, however, but pretty symbolic for JJ...

another question: does the student body/fans return early from Thansgiving Weekend break to see what could be crucial Tulane game at Ford.

Most assuredly the students will not come back making it all the moreso important that the local media start playing up our bowl possibilities to lure in some local interest. Yes, it could all cave in but we need to market the possibility now to raise the local interest.
