December 5th on the Boulevard

Postby Caballo » Mon Nov 02, 2009 10:37 am

Here is the tiebreaker scenario for teams hosting the C-USA Championship game.

http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/c-u ... braker.pdf

Tiebreaker
The following tiebreaker formula is recommended for the Conference USA Football Championship
game:
Two-team tie to determine host
1. Highest regular season winning percentage based on overall Conference USA play.
2. If tied, head to head between tied teams.
3. If still tied, team with highest BCS ranking.
Two-team or multiple team tie for divisional champion
1. Highest regular season winning percentage based on overall Conference USA play.
2. If tied, head to head between tied teams.
3. If still tied, highest winning percentage within division.
4. If still tied, compare records against divisional opponents in descending order of finish.
5. If still tied, compare records with common cross-divisional opponents.
6. If still tied, compare records against cross-divisional opponents in descending order of
finish.
7. If still tied, team with highest BCS ranking.
8. If still tied, the representative will be the team that has not participated in the championship
game most recently.
9. If at any point the tie is broken in a multiple team tie, the remaining teams will begin the
process again at #2.

If we run the table and Houston falls at either Tulsa or UCF (both very tough games) we will win the West outright. It looks like ECU will take the East. We would have the same conference record, but we won the head to head matchup earlier this year. The C-USA Championship game would then be played at Ford on December 5th.

It is a long way to this point, but it is fun thinking about that possibility in November.

If all the stars align and we get the game at Ford, do sesaon ticket holders get first shot at their seats?

Who else do you think they are going to sell the tickets to?

and logical arguments like those are exactly the ones we'll make after getting screwed, or being forced to go through some nonsensical process

Premature? Grossly.

But a heck of a lot of fun to think about? Hell yes!

It it were to happen, it would ALmost be a "ESPN Game Day' type of event that the rest of the country would love to see. Maybe Leoi Corso with a "Peruna' head on as his forecast.....

Unfortunately, I think Corso will be in Hotlanta for the UF/Alabama(LSU) game. Wishful thinking though. We would definitely get a lot of publicity though, and I guarantee they would do a story about it on Gameday.

If we do go to the championship game (which I really hope we do), do those who have tents already get to keep their space(s)?

I don't even want to think about this. Very depressing. For years never had to worry about such things. Was not even on the radar. Scheduled our company Christmas Party months ago for Dec 5, 1PM -5PM. Printing has been done, Santa visit scheduled, restaurant reservation for large party private room. The party date can not be changed this late in the game. So I sit here and hope for a Friday game or a late Saturday start but from what I am reading those do not look very promising. How can I be two places at once? With SMU winning, future company Christmas Parties will not be the first weekend in December ever again.
