Could We Go...8-4?!?!

Provided Padron can keep this level of play up and looking at the remaining games on the schedule...why not?

The current combined record of Rice, UTEP, Tulane, & Marshal is 10-23.

Rice: 0-8
UTEP: 3-5
Marshal: 5-4
Tulane: 2-6

Rice will be a nice practice game for Padron and hopefully allow him to become more comfortable in this offense with ample opportunity to air it out, they are 0-8, and I feel confident in mailing this in as a win.

UTEP scares me a bit with the performance that they had against Houston, it will probably be a shootout again like 2 years ago but I think we can with that one; could our D be coming alive after only spotting 17 to Tulsa?

Marshall seems to be the obvious test but they have some clear flaws. their strength of schedule has lead them to this record with games against VTech and WVA. They put up 31 against an awful Tulane team but that is their season high so I feel that we have a shot with our offensive power. Is there any doubt that we basically have to outscore everyone still?

Finally we have Tulane which has been getting punished all season with only 2 wins against Army and McNeese St. and is winless in conference play.

3 of the last 4 games are at home including the finally against Tulane, we are more likely to go 3-1 down the stretch but I feel like we can go 4-0 to be 8-4 finishing the regular season. How 'bout that for a turn around? Unless Houston decides to have an epic failure and collapse like they did at UTEP in 2 of their last 4 games we wont be making it to the Conference Championship but 8-4 should earn us a decent bowl berth and for the Love of God any bowl berth would be great.

Our guys are more focused on 5-4 right now, as they should be.

Did you use new math or old math to reach that conclusion?

Why does UH have to lose twice? We're tied now. If we win out and they drop just one that would put UH at 6-2 in conference and SMU at 7-1 in conference. In which case, we would play in the championship game.

Old math. According to R&B's post, 13=17, which must be new math.

UH is not going to lose. Would have happened this weekend if it was going to happen at all. Even if we win out, so will they. If we can go to a bowl I will be happy.

UH owns the tie breaker over us

does anyone remember the conversation we had after last season about how we have a precedent of starting freshman who greatly surpass our expectations and the perform miserably in their 2nd campaign? all i'm saying is, the writing is on the wall, we'd better be careful with this kid.

Meaning if we both win out, UH goes to the championship because they have the tiebreaker. If UH loses twice and SMU loses once in the last four games, then UH goes 5-3 in conference and SMU goes 6-2. SMU would still go to the championship game. The tiebreaker only goes into play if SMU and UH win the same number of games in the last four.
