I was annoyed, too. But if you're going to call someone out for inaccuracy, perhaps you better get your facts straight. Chris Fowler, who was back in the studio for the game with James and Palmer, made the comletely boneheaded mistake.
Rece Davis was actually calling the game at ECU. He did not make the mistake.

I heard it and was disgusted, but in his defense I imagine the copy given him to read had SMU rather than USM, as Southern Miss is often improperly written, and he just did a little ad lib as a poke to James. But I do demand a retraction. Maybe James will step up and show us some love.
FWIW I thought it was Davis. He was announcing the player of the week during the ECU game. Regardless it was not nice to hear.

Well, but they were said by so-called college football experts so it matters to me! I cringed when I heard it. On the bright side, we don't have to see our teams in those ugly uniforms!!!
