UNIVERSITY PARK – Left tackle Kelvin Beachum sat out part of practice due to soreness, but coach June Jones said he expects Beachum to play Saturday against Rice. The already banged-up offensive line will probably be protecting freshman quarterback Kyle Padron in his second career start. Jones said backups such as center Blake McJunkin, who could get the majority of them snaps with Mitch Enright battling an ankle injury, have performed well.

Man they are hurtin down in the trenches, but they are one tough unit....we must have some great trainers who are working overtime...

With the exception of Josh LeRibeus, every starter has some sort of injury, with 2 already out for Rice. Time to gut it out boys, and pound these punks!

Fear the Wolfblitzer!

It's nice to know that Kyle is more mobile than BLM - he might need it if we're hurting that bad in teh Oline

Oh my god, it's early November, we've played 8 games, this is a brutal game to play and people are banged up and sore?

What are the odds? Unbelievable PANIC reaction by some of our fans.

tough combination...banged up o-line and freshman qb. I'm really glad it's Rice we're playing and not, say, TCU in this situation

Which of the posts on this thread above your post was a PANIC reaction?

The headline on the thread is misleading because the note talks about a player's soreness?

Soreness is an injury? Are you kiddding? But he's likely going to play? Stop it.

There's your panic. And I don't even know why Jones would mention that but in his career, he has done a wonderful job of manipulating the media. Just look at what he did last week with his QB thing.

Oh I hear you on the supposed 'panic'...its not that, it thats SMU and most mid-major football programs like ours are simply not deep enough with many quality replacements. And especially so with our guys, as we have some quality athletes in the program, but they are few and far between, and we have young ,more often than not inexperienced replacements for the injured players. Thats the real deal here as we saw how an injured Aldrick Robinson with his break away speed may have hampered the deep threat in the offense for several weeks. Until we have a few more recruiting classes to add depth we will continue to have these kinds of issues....

IT'S SORENESS!!! According to Jones, it's not a joint injury or a pulled or strained muscle. I'm telling you some of you people would buy his oceanfront property he has on the market in Montana.

So it is PANIC to copy the exact headline that the DMN used for the story? Lighten up.

We are talking big picture not just Beacham, as Enright for instance has a tough high ankle sprain which is more than just soreness....some guys have knee sprains and injuries that may require off season surgery etc.

I'm going to refer the previous posters about the way Jones manipulates the media and leave it at that.

Hey, the media does a good job to incite panic. Their headlines are the first step. Got everybody's attention including. And then when you read the note, you realize it's not as big a deal as first thought. But some of you still bought it.
