I agree too. I don't really root against TCU when we aren't playing them. And they certainly have earned the success they have had lately.

Plus, if they can bust up the BCS--more power to them. (Conversely if the MWC does manage to get into the BCS with a Cotton Bowl addition, they are our ticket into the MWC......just sayin)

As I said in another thread....it's OK to hate them as a rival, but I respect what they've done over there. If we had followed that "model" sooner we probably would have moved ahead long before now.

I'm pulling for them....until next year, of course.

I like that they are platying the B(C)S buster role well, however if they had lost game one of the season, I would have wished for them to lose the next eleven.

If they go to a BCS bowl it only hurts us in recruiting against them. Also, if they go to a BCS bowl and we go to a bowl game for the first time in 25 years who do you think the local media will give the most publicity to? TCU would get most of the pub. Yesterday on the news at 6pm everyone was so focused on TCU that one of the sportscaster had to remind them that SMU is doing well also.

I agree that TCU success hurts us some and I would rather the BCS busters come from elsewhere other than Fort Worthless.

Do you remember the last player that we were both recruiting close to signing day?

I have to agree! Going forward, I think we will be fighting for the same recruits. However, we first need to win a conference championship before we will be able to lure the same caliber football players that TCU is currently signing.

TCU having sucess is the best thing that could happen to schools like us. They took the lead in showing what is possible during these times. While others and yes, many of the froggies, said " we can't compete and don't have the facilities and don't have the money and don't have the fans and don't have the conference and don't have the five-star players and don't have the media coverage and on and on and on".Well, somebody forgot to tell Gary Patterson, a guy from KSU and the worst program in the history of college football, that all of the aforementioned mattered(and some loyal frog faithful). Texas is loaded with players and many are overlooked. Texas and A&m can't sign em all! Good coaches recruit good players who work hard and win football games. It is just so much easier if you have the facilities, fans, media cov etc. Asking if SMU and TCU recruit the same players really doesn't matter. Does TCU recruit the same players as TT, UT and AM? No. They have found their niche as we are trying to do. SMU needs to hold up our end of the rivalry. For years, SMU was good and TCU was bad. Then TCU was good and we were bad. Can't wait for the day when both are great and it becomes a real rivalry with the game at the Cotton Bowl or Jerryworld with a national tv audience and bcs implications. We need to pull for each other. Maybe fans from Dallas would drive to Fort Worth when SMU is out of town and maybe some frog fans would drive to Dallas when TCU is out of town. Maybe we could help each other fill our stadiums! I know, Amon Carter is rolling over in his grave with the last statement.

again you keep making this claim that TCU takes the leftovers that BCS schools don't want and you're wrong. Over 72% of TCU's commitments in the last 2 recruiting classes had major BCS offers -almost all of them offered by BCS programs routinely competing for Top 25 rankings. Almost 100%-all but about 3-4 had multiple offers from other programs. I'm not going to count them up but most get 6+ offers. ITS BEEN THIS WAY FOR YEARS since the day Franchione took the job. They consistently win 10+ games per year because they have much better, highly recruited talent than just about any one on their schedule

Never. I will never pull for TCU. To me, it is a disgrace that SMU fans would even consider pulling for its arch-nemesis. We can't even get the concept of rivalry right. TCU spits in our face every chance they get, yet our fans are pulling for them? Bush league in every thing we do, I suppose.
