I am in charge of Multimedia for The Daily Mustang, www.smudailymustang.com, and have been struggling with the idea of where to get funding to cover the potential bowl game. I don't wanna count our chickens before they hatch but it seems likely we may get selected. If so, I absolutely want to provide Mustang fans all over the world with exclusive coverage along with Sports Editor Robby Gillespie.

Any ideas on how we could get funding to make the trip assuming there is one to be made?

Should we start a donation fund online or in the SMU community, talk to someone in particular, apply for a grant?

Any and all input is appreciated. Thanks so much!

It looks like a couple of thousand dollars with two plane tickets and a hotel for a couple of days.

pretty sure the rest of us are working on addressing the very same issue.

I would think the Mustang Club would want some kind of video to document the bowl game for their fundraising efforts. A DVD that could be shown at various alumni meetings across the country.

Of course, that means some sort of editorial control for the Mustang Club. Or perhaps you edit a separate version for them.

You could try the Society of Professional Journalists. I believe they offer grants for projects. I'd also suggest asking the Journalism Dept for leads.
