I don't think they should be used as rankings -more of a snapshot of relative strength anong schools that are otherwise difficult to compare because they play in different conferences etc.

As I have mentioned, there are 3 different rankings on that page if you look closely. There is Sagarin's ranking (which only considers margin of victory; has SMU at 89) ; there is Sagarin's ranking that is used for the BCS (which only considers wins and losses; has SMU at 64); and there is the one that is to the left of the page that is used to actually rank the teams on the page, which Sagarin refers to as a "blended" average of the other two rankings, which has SMU at 79.

Not really. Beating Rice wasn't going to help our rating.
