OT: Flyover

Postby Hilltop » Sun Nov 08, 2009 10:47 pm

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but did anyone else notice the gigantic USAF cargo plane that flew over Ford Stadium before the game? I never heard anything about an official flyover and when I made it inside I was informed that it had nothing to do with the game itself. I was just wondering if this was true and if anyone could add any insight as to what the plane was doing that low if it was not connected to the game.

The PA announcer introduced it but I was not paying enough attention as to why it was occuring. I had just gotten to my seat when it flew over. But it was planned and set up to occur.

They announced the C 130 flyover.

I liked the wing tilt just over Ford.

They dropped wind streamers that drifted hard to the north...landed between campus and Lover's Lane. Was pretty cool, though.

Thank you for the info on the flyover. I'm just sorry that I was not inside the stadium when it went over to get a full view of the C-130's pass. Any time we can incorporate our Armed Forces into the pre-game ceremonies, it makes for a great day.

It's the ol' 'aerial attack' of the S.M.U. 'Air Force'! Anybody else remember the ol' Bill McClanahan cartoons depicting that? :)
