Ticket Sweet Sweet Musers

Postby OR-See-Nee » Mon Nov 09, 2009 10:52 am

Musers discussed TCU and SMU this morning at 9:45. 25 years since both TCU and SMU have been in a bowl.

They discussed TCU:

--Weird to have a school plead for attendance. How can you not fill up the stadium for the Utah game? If they don't fill up AGC now, they never will.
--Very hard for TCU to get into the top 2 rankings.
--If TCU wins out and Texas keeps winning and Fla beats Ala; how bout TCU having a shot at Texas? A great debate. A Texas state championship game? But Texas may lose at A&M (stub their toe type game).

They discussed SMU:

--Incredible. 1-11 to 5-4; possible bowl berth. UTEP and Tulane are winnable.
--This year is nothing short of a miracle--for JJ to have a shot at being above .500 is amazing.
--Feels more confident about this year's team than the 2006 team.
--Talked about Hunt's 6 blocks.
--QB injury and Padron is 2-0.
--Full of young players, set up to be really good next year.
--Very close to being 7-2.
--JJ has gone from us not recognizing him when he came to the station for an interview to being bowl eligible. Thought he would turn it around but not this season.
--4-1 in conference for first time since 1986. Could play for conference championship if UH loses.

They discussed NT:

--George is depressed.

Great to see the Little Ticket giving us good press. They could change perceptions amongst the sports crazed, half drunk 18-35 year old demographic. Need to have the Ticket broadcast from the vard

I'd love to see TCU beat Texas in a bowl game. It's always annoyed me to see non-Texas alum all decked out in burnt orange.

Yep, RP elaborated on everything the Musers said and added some commentary of his own. This resulted in much more SMU talk than TCU talk.

Even though I don't like The Ticket, since they are the broadcast home, we should really have them do a show from Ford this week to stir interest, buzz and drive ticket sales for the UTEP game.

They have a great following. This is where we need to be proactive. It should go without saying.

I completely agree as well, but I might suggest having them broadcast from the Student Center. That way they would have a bigger audience simply because more students spend time at Hughes-Trigg than at Ford. It would be huge pub for us with the listening audience, and it could be kind of a mini pep rally for the students.

I think it would be great to have Gordo walk around with the wireless mike. It's always good comedy when he does that at TMS like he did Friday. I'm sure he could have fun with some people on the Blvd.

Gametimes for rest of season are 2PM. You have to recognize the ticket's broadcast schedule on Saturdays: Tee-box till 10AM. Orphanage until Noon. Troy Aikman show until 1PM. Pregame at 1:30.

Sure, we could get Teebox and orphanage to do a remote from the 'vard, but does anyone really want to?
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Couple of years ago Greggo and Corby were broadcasting from the 'Vard before the TCU game. Of course decked out in TCU gear. Would make sense for us to have them do their Sat. shows from the 'Vard, especially for the early games. May even steer 20 extra or so walk ups from people driving around and deciding to check out a college game.

Don't usually point out grammar mistakes (I make plenty myself), but this one conjured up some funny images.

They had a TCU reporter on KJR AM up here in Seattle this morning. He was trying to give the pitch that the MWC is just a good a conference as any of the others (esp. Big East and ACC) and therefore TCU should be considered for the national title game. Then he pretty much negated everything he said by stating that Patterson will stay with TCU rather than go to a Clemson or Auburn because he will have an easier time of making a BCS bowl in the MWC.

The propaganda machine is in full force.
It's a crappy job but someone's gotta do it.

It doesn't have to be Saturday. It should be Thursday or Friday with morning drive, lunch crew or evening drive. You want to build it up before Saturday.
