VERY interesting, worth watching.

Says the university needs to get behind the program or end it. Says he is doing it for the individual who is to follow him at that position.
This will sound like sour grapes, but I can tell you it isn't. Is saying what multiple people, including former head coaches, journalists, and fans have said both publicly and privately.

West comes across as a good guy. Kind of looks like the guy who was the fat kid in Stand By Me then grew up and lost a lot of weight. Don't remember his name, but he was in other movies too. Varsity Blues?

Some interesting quotes from the article:

West is 49-58 in his ninth season as head coach. He led Memphis to five bowl games in the past six years, and he was one of only four coaches in school history with four winning seasons while coaching at least five seasons with the Tigers.

West's overall record is 84-93, including coaching stints at Tennessee-Chattanooga and Clemson.

He led Memphis to three consecutive winning seasons from 2003-05 and his fifth bowl was last year's St. Petersburg Bowl.

The worst [performance] may have been a 38-19 loss to East Carolina on Oct. 27. Not only did the Tigers perform poorly on the field, but a rainy night resulted in only a couple of thousand people in the stands at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in a nationally televised game.

I like what that guy said. That probably goes for half the 120 or so Division 1 teams when directed toward sarcastic media (I can think of one blowhard in particular at wfaa) and negative people. On the other hand, that is football. Is there any other sport that is second-guessed as much as this one? What does it say about us when the Mustangs and Cowboys win. Sure makes my Monday mornings easier to handle. I am sorry but I can't help it!

Yes, kind of like someone saying that we should fire Coach Reinebold.

I thought it was ridiculous. Complaining about the fans-yeah right. Come on-were where the tangible changes that he thinks need to be made in the Memphis football program. If its an on campus stadium then say it. But be "positive"-what a load of crap. He should be fired if he can't identify what is wrong with the program after 9 years. Since he can't articulate problems-must be coaching.
