What If: New Nike SMU Uniforms

Postby SMUer » Tue Nov 10, 2009 12:59 pm

What would our uniforms look like if Nike Pro Combat was turned loose on them? My guess:

-helmet stripe made to look like a mane, maybe horse ear logos, reared back, hopefully no eyes
-pant pattern made to look like matted horse hair OR horse leg logo would be used as the verticle 'stripe'
-possibly a tail pattern on the butt of the pants
-traditional harvard red, yale blue OUT, fire engine red and pacific blue IN
-no idea about the gloves, horse hoof gloves?, naw
-patent black shoes

I don't care how strange our uniforms would look in this scenario. Kids in high school and current SMU players would love this.

That's why we have ADULTS choose the uniform. Kids need to be taught the difference between "class" and "crap".

What about the recruits who like new exciting neat things? Just asking.

Personally I think our uniforms are the best already.

Definitely specially designed cleats that leave a horseshoe imprint on the ground. Would look really cool the one time SMU plays on grass every other year.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I didn't mean to imply that we should get Pro Combat Nike uniforms, only meant to speculate what kinda crap they'd do for us if they made uniforms for SMU. Our current uniforms are beautiful-Go Team America!

What is this 'Pro Combat' [deleted]? Sounds like someone going overseas to Iraq or Afghanistan. If you want to be in the military, sign up. Leave the 'combat' stuff to the folks who know what they're doing. It sure ain't Nike. I find this 'Pro Combat' terminology insulting and disrespectful to our fighting men and women in the U.S. armed forces. And especially with tomorrow being Veteran's Day. Thank a U.S. Veteran tomorrow.

I agree the name is a bit silly, but lighten up. I guess you also find the following to be insulting: blitzes, linemen battling in the trenches, a quarterback throwing a long bomb, gunners on punt coverage, field generals, etc.

Hat tip to George Carlin.

I'm a little sensitive right now after what happened in Fort Hood and a close friend's son just got shipped over to Afghanistan.

Carlin was a genius.

Ok I gotcha. It would be interesting to see what they would come up with.
