Any word on Mitchell for UTEP?Moderators: PonyPride, SmooPower Any word on Mitchell for UTEP?Has the staff said anything with regard to the QB situation going into UTEP? It was really speculative going into Tulsa, less so with Rice so... is Padron the man from here on out?

Re: Any word on Mitchell for UTEP?Book this, Bo Mitchell's last-ever start as the SMU quarterback was Houston. He had 17 starts to prove he could run this offense. He didn't. Now he sits. June is just pulling the wool over people's eyes just bc he likes jacking w them.
Re: Any word on Mitchell for UTEP?Unless Padron craters BLM will be a sideline spectator the rest of the year and that is the way it should be. Padron appears to be our future and so far it is so refreshing to have a presence in the pocket who can make quick and decisive reads without too many mistakes. And to think he is a true freshman doing this well.
Re: Any word on Mitchell for UTEP?It would not surprise me to see Padron have trouble making quick reads on blitzes and havng Bo come in due to experience. I think a lot depends on the OL. If they can give Padron enough time, he will be fine. I do not know, however, how the DLs of our remaining foes stack up to what Rice had. We had trouble with Rice and if the future holds better DLs and blitz packages, we may very well see Bo.

Re: Any word on Mitchell for UTEP?
I agree with the first part. As I have said before, Padron is the real deal. I think June is being tactful toward those who actually think BLM would ever be the starter again. Anyone who knows one iota about our quarterbacks KNOWS who the starter is from here on out. In 2011 June will still be saying, "we're going to give his shoulder more time to heal."
Re: Any word on Mitchell for UTEP?
Mitchell's experience in those situations has not been stellar as I recall. I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.

I did not say it would be a good thing. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Any word on Mitchell for UTEP?
That was funny, very true, made me laugh.
Re: Any word on Mitchell for UTEP?
I would rather take sacks than throw Int's!
Re: Any word on Mitchell for UTEP?It would not surprise me that if SMU GEts in a 2 minut edrill, BLM takes the field. You may not like it but Padron still doesn't know the whole offense.
Also, there are 3 qb's that can play. They all need to get ready to play every week. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Re: Any word on Mitchell for UTEP?Despite five sacks, most of which I would attribute to a beat up OL and Rices' two week prep, Padron had a solid outing.
Reducing fumbles while scrambling is something Padron can learn from the Rice game. ![]() Go Ponies!!
Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad
Re: Any word on Mitchell for UTEP?
He knows it better than Mitchell does. He trained under the principles of this type of scheme since middle school and it shows. Mitchell only returns if Padron gets hurt badly.
Re: Any word on Mitchell for UTEP?
Such a short message, yet so much inaccurate information: - Saying that BLM has had his last start is guesswork ... at the very best. - He actually did do some things very well running this offense. He also had his share of mistakes. But to suggest he "didn't" run the offense is simply inaccurate. - If you think JJ is spending his time "pulling the wool over people's eyes just because he likes jacking with them" you clearly have not met the man, and/or know absolutely nothing about him. He is, among other things, very confident in what he does, and has way too much going on to worry about what fans or media or opposing coaches think - he's going to do what he's going to do, and he knows his track record (not to mention the results this season) prove that he knows what he's doing. The last thing he's going to do is waste time "pulling the wool" over anyone's eyes. We get it - you prefer Padron. Stop making it sound like BLM is without value, because that couldn't be further from the truth. My guess is that he has not made his last start - and might make a lot more - but that is just like your post: a guess.
