June Jones makes impact after switch to SMU

Nov. 13--EL PASO -- June Jones always has had an unconventional football mind, but when he left Hawaii for SMU last season, he looked downright crazy.
Hawaii was coming off an undefeated regular season; SMU hadn't been to a bowl since 1984.
The thinking was that Jones would soon learn enough how foolish he was, he would see what a graveyard SMU was. And, indeed, last season the Mustangs bottomed out at 1-11.
So fast forward a year and where is Jones now? He's the coach of a team that's 4-1 in Conference USA, tied for first in the West Division and one win from bowl eligibility.
