Has this been discussed?

I was not able to read all the posts after the game. Sorry if this has been discussed. We killed a punt on the UTEP 1 yard line. For the first time this year to my knowledge, we put in the entire 2nd team defense. We had them in a position for a possible safety, or at worst stopping them deep and getting good field position. We yielded 30 yards and then put the entire first team back on the field. Subsequently UTEP score on a 99 yard drive. Was there a particular reason for the switch? It may have been thought to be a good time to rest the first team. Or maybe a message was being sent. (If so it apparently was not heard.) But it just seemed very curious to me. I do believe it was entirely 11 swapped for 11 with perhaps teh exception of Bennie Thomas who had to play both 1st and 2nd due to the injury to Moore.

I noticed that - it was a weird decision - someone ask Monday about that.

I also think it was very strange (and not so smart) to throw deep on 3rd and a foot in our second drive after we scored and then held. We went with the 25% deep ball vs the 95% short run or throw -
We had a chance to get up on them big early and get the UTEP the rest of the game instead of letting the good UTEP get rolling - and we have McNeal who has not run any play for less then 5 yds - or Zach Line who can fall forward for 2 yds - and we throw it deep on the wrong side of the reciever.

Strange call.

I think Coach Doherty won the "call a play for the Ponies" raffle and he picked 'wholesale mass subs' as his play that he wanted ran

I questioned the 3rd and a foot and would have run the ball myself, but I am not June Jones, and although I still would run today, he did win the game. One reason for the win might have been putting into their minds that he might run when he should pass and he might pass when he should run. Establish that confusion early.

I honestly thought of our BB team when I saw the first team running back onto the field. That is funny.

I noticed it and asked the person next to me if Doh had taken over as defensive coordinator. They looked at me like they didn't know what I was talking about. I guess they don't go to basketball games.
