Pony up

One had to figure June Jones would turn things around at SMU. But this quickly? The Mustangs’ 35-31 win over UT-El Paso on Saturday not only made them bowl-eligible for the first time since 2006, but also moved them into sole possession of first place in Conference USA’s West Division after Houston lost 37-32 to Central Florida. SMU freshman quarterback Kyle Padron, from Southlake Carroll, completed 17 of 24 passes for 244 yards and two TDs and added two scores with his feet. Euless Trinity graduate Trevor Vittatoe finished 23-of-40 for 396 yards and two scores for the Miners. The Mustangs travel to Marshall this week and host Tulane on Nov. 28 to close the regular season. Win those two games and a trip to the conference title game is theirs. That could mean a trip to the Liberty Bowl.

They have some catching up to do on what's going on at SMU. If we win the next two games we will not be traveling to the championship game...it will be at Ford.
