Marshall Class

Don't let AaronTurd fool you guys.
I went to the Marshall game and was very surprised by the amount of class and courtesy shown by the town and the fans. I went with CacheMoneyMustang and his gf, and every where we went that morning, Marshall fans were telling us "Welcome to town!" and "Good luck out there today!"
There was one story of a Marshall fan covering an SMU groups bar tab. Anybody have a line on that?
In the stadium, there was one chucklehead (Aaronturd?) who kept yelling "JUNE JONES! WHY DON'T YOU GO BACK TO HAWAII?!?" When I looked over at him, there were a couple of marshall fans behind him looking at us apologetically and mouthing "Ignore him..."

As an ex-bando, I've been to a bunch of Away Games, and never have I had a more welcome experience. It sucks to lose, but it sucks worse when the fans are so damn classy about it.

Anybody else have a similar experience? Or an opposite one?

glad i got to say hello to you and CMM on my way out.

Seems like Marshall folks went out of their way to make us feel welcome. And it was genuine, unlike the silly "howdy" I remember when walking around College Station.

yeah, other than that one [deleted] bag that you referred to (who was alone at the game, btw, which speaks volumes) the marshall folks couldn't have been any nicer and hospitable.

typical [deleted] bag, though. he kept crowing about how automatic their PK is (which apparently he is) and when he missed the one FG i turned around and snickered and he looked spooked and got up and ran away. it took it all out of me not to get into it with that guy, but i've learned over the years it never pays.

Could not agree more. I can't remember feeling more welcome at an away game. Our waitress pre-game promised to cheer for SMU even though her face paint said "Go Herd."

All the marshall fans at the tailgate were very friendly and outgoing. Many of them offered us beers and wanted to chat. Several of them apologized for not having a better turnout (if they only knew).

After the game, someone who worked for marshall took our picture on the field.

At the bars after the game, everyone was nice as well. Unfortunately we lost a beer chugging contest to an enormous local man named "tiny."

I had a great time seeing and meeting many of you, and cant wait to start making as many away games as possible (3 this year).

GO MUSTANGS!!
BEAT TULANE!!

I saw the guy you guys are talking about...all by himself.

I was in the bigger group up behind you guys.

We were the ones that had the guy in the group hollering to kill the officials kids.

i actually prefer going to a stadium where the fans are loud and OBNOXIOUS. I think its funny as long as they don't take it to a physical level and avoid extreme profanity/abusive language...

That was my experience four years ago. The Marshall fans are some of the nicest around. I hope our fans reciprocate if any of their fans venture to Dallas. So, next year if you see some guy in a green Marshall sweatshirt walking down the boulevard, offer him a beer. And if its a good looking woman, well....

We had a great experience wth the Marshall fans. One came down in the stands to stand beside me and compliment SMU. Others told me the same. Sat at the bar at the Marshall Bar and by a fan and he was the nicest! Very good experience. I can see why the Marshall fans are rated No. 1!
