from the report:
Should UH fail to become bowl eligible, speculation is that Fresno State, which is 7-4 with one game remaining, or Nevada (8-3), should it lose to Boise State, will represent the Western Athletic Conference in the Hawai'i Bowl.
Come on Fresno State. And I think Nevada has a shot at taking down Boise St

I really like Nevada this week and I would much rather see Fresno in Hawaii...
Not to mention a little revenge for the David Carr game a couple years back...

Nevada's offense will "pistol-whip" us off the field.

Won't many of our banged up guys be back if we play in the Hawaii Bowl?
Would Sterling Moore be back by then? And maybe a lot of the O-Line?

I believe he's making a reference to Nevada's use of the "Pistol" formation in their offense.

They have the #1 rushing offense in the nation--including 3 1000-yard rushers this season.
We have the 97th rushing defense, mainly playing against teams that don't run the ball a lot.
Granted, they got their rushing yards against teams with pretty pathetic rushing defenses too, but I don't think Nevada is a good matchup for us regardless of who is healthy.

Nevada would be a very tough matchup. I think it would be cool to play Fresno State and we would have a little inside info from Mason's time there.

Go U of H. We need a great story in our first bowl game since forever. Jones going back to the islands to play Fresno is ok, but not very good. Jones going back to play UH, now that is a story and worthy of the first bowl game in 25 years. At least we seem to miss Idaho, that would have been a downer.

I personally hope Fresno gets shut out of a bowl completely. They were the principal destabilizing force in the WAC. They kept making eyes to leave, and bellyaching about the eastern part of the conference, so everyone left them.

It just does not matter. As much as all of us like winning, and as nice as it has been to celebrate 6 times this year, do not bank your happiness on a bowl victory or even a close game. Now they may win, or play it close, but these kids will be wide eyed, partying, celebrating, and basking in the limelight of publicity. Just enjoy the ride with them. After we regain some higher level of play, and bowl games become the rule, we can start demanding wins.
