Not too excited about that!!! We would be backing into the conference championship!!! I am looking forward to beating Tulane and then going to Hawaii to beat a team from the WAC!!! That said, I look forward to Memphis next year.

Beat Tulane. It is the only thing we can do to control our destiny. If Rice wins and all the other things fall into place, I sure will not complain. But the only thing we can do is beat Tulane.

Just out of curiosity, if Rice and Houston played first and Rice won, and then we beat Tulane, we would have earned the Division by winning our way in, so I do not see how the games times signify backing in.

I am with you, Mrydel.
I have never gotten the concept of "backing into [a game, a playoff, whatever]." The last game of the season is 1 of 12. The first game of the season is 1 of 12. You either did what needed to be done to qualify or you didn't. Now, there is something to be said for peaking at the right time and you obviously want to be playing your best football now, but you either deserve to be there or you don't.

C'mon Dooby- you are smarter than that! How can they both be 1 of 12.

The first game is one of 12, the last game is 12 or 12- right?
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
Beat Tulane.
GO PONIES!!!

I totally understand your argument, but don't think we deserve it this season. I see it the same way I saw 8-4 Pitt playing in the Fiesta Bowl and losing to Utah. I would rather be 7-5 going into our bowl game than 7-6 and possibly 7-7 after the cusa championship and bowl game. No question we would be the rightful winners of the division if it happens, but I just think that we haven't shown enough to merit it. Hence my statement about backing into it.

Should Houston feel that way since we got beat by Marshall? I will grant that we have had some breaks this year that have gone the other way in years past, but the fact is, the team with the best record wins, regardless of when the wins take place. I would take the Championship game if we got it. Those with Hawaii reservations could always cheer for ECU.

BEAT tulane and them open your thoughts to the Championship game.
Having that game at SMU would bring extra money for the program. An unexpected payday for game tickets, and food and I am sure for parking on the Boulevard.
We have that game at SMU and we have extra money not budgeted for expenses.
Think about that.
