Secondary concerns vs. Tulane

Postby Hoofprint » Thu Nov 26, 2009 9:29 pm

Tulane didn't show up offensively against UCF, but you've got to think they'll be jacked up to spoil our last regular-season game (how good does that feel? You have to qualify Saturday as our last REGULAR-season game!)

Anyway, they have a big QB with a decent arm, and I gather they have two pretty solid receivers.

So Bell is out, Moore is out, and now we're down to Thomas and McCann. JJ said this week that if we need to, we'll play McConico (who allegedly is OK with burning the redshirt).

I just don't like the way we match up, and I see another last-minute fistfight of a game.

I hope we can win without burning up McConico's redshirt, but hats off to him if he's really cool with the idea.

What happened to Keith Robinson? They thought he was good enough to play last year and I believe even started him some. Not to say he is the best there is, or even the best we have, but last year they blamed his mistakes on having him out there too soon. You would think he has learned a little since then, but I do not recall seeing much if any from him.

Edit: I checked the participation chart and he has played in almost every game. Just have not noticed him much. Of course it could be on special teams.

The beat way to protect our secondary if for a much better pass rush. unfortunately, we are beat up there as well. It would be nice to see some successful blitzes early.

Coach Jones also said they might do that after practice — Wednesday, I think.

Okay. I was at the luncheon and just making sure nobody is spilling beans that don't need to be spilled. Sorry to act as tthe thought police, but I really enjoy those luncheons and don't want to see them end.

I don't agree. We have to stop assuming that any and all "insider" info comes from the lunches. It seems to me that everyone that attends the lunches understands and lives by the "unwritten rules", so I don't understand why many people jump to the conclusion that if someone "hears something" that it was from the lunches.

Do we really such little faith in people's judgment to think they would say anything at all to harm this program given where we are headed?

I don't mean to offend anyone, we need to focus on the game on the field, not the re-hash at the Radisson.
